Videocon D2H DTH Customer Experience

I wont comment upon the differences, coz i dont know. Mascot can easily spot the differences coz he used both - Simple HD box & now HD DVR. So leaving that for him.About 5.1 channel sound, on HD channels u will get that. My connection is like this - HD DVR to TV is connected by HDMI Cable. And TV to 5.1 channel speaker is connected by Component (Red Green Blue wires) cable. And yes, i have changed the Audio settings to "Home Theatre".@ Mascot....I have been noticing a thing since last few days - we get 2 language options on Star's HD channels - 1) Unknown2) Unknown Dolby DigitalWhen i select the second option, the sound goes off. Have u noticed this?

ooh thats nice, what composite pins issue u were having? is the DVR better in clarity or same? the music plays in the guide main menu when u have to choose the genre, once u in the genre then it plays the channel sound in the background. BTW do we get 5.1 surround on any of the channels? if yes is it by hdmi also or only coxial?

Thanks..

Thanks buddy. In HD Satellite Box, only Stereo and SPDIF slot were available to connect STB to Music System, but in HD DVR, you have SPDIF, Composite AV slot as well as HDMI. In HD Satellite Box, one can connect Home Theatre only through SPDIF.

When I was having HD Satellite or HD Zapper, I also felt annoyed with the music playing in Guide Menu, But when my HD DVR was installed, I instantly noticed that on opening Guide Menu, No More Music plays and i can see translusent image and audio of the channel playing at that time.

Yes, 5.1 surround is available in all HD Channels, bcoz when I changed the option I was getting sound effects of front channel as I am having 2.1 sound system connected. Also I had tried it with HDMI cables. May be coxial would also be providing , but for that I had to connect composite cables to my Wall Mounted LED which I don't know how to unmount .

But if you wanna feel 5.1 surround sound, I would suggest you to try connecting your home theatre using SPDIF or composite/coxial cables as suggested by engineer

Oh thats cool! Its upto u to make the most of the Play/Pause/Rewind and such features! U dont feel the need when u dont have. But once u use it, u cant live without that feature.

I always feel that pinch when i am not home. Whenever i get a call or some urgent task or any damn thing, while watching TV, i just Pause it. Not only that, if u feel u didnt get what was just said, u can simply rewind.

Btw, how much extra did u pay?

Yes, that rite dude. gt DVR installed 2 days back only. So still I am in learning and experimenting phase :p I have to follow the normal upgrade process, but they waived the Installation charge as goodwill gesture.

Wall Mounted LED which I don't know how to unmount .

Thats the reason why i hate wall-mounting. But due to space constraints in this city, we have to do it, sadly! I have the habit fidgeting around with wires. But cant do that in Wall mount! :(

Oh I skipped the Quality Part. I would say Quality is almost similar, but in HD DVR Channel change time has been reduced. It used to be 3-4 seconds in Zapper, but in HD DVR its 1-2 seconds. Also DVR Remote keys are soft as compared to Zapper Remote. But still d2h Remote lacks in transmitting signals appropriately when I compare it with my Sony Bravia LED Remote.

In Bravia Remote, I press button in any direction and command executes, but in DTH Remote, I have to specifically point towards the DVR sensor .

Didn't tried that dude. Would try in evening and update. Now I have to rush to Parlour for Hair Cut. Its time to get ready for Rakhabandhan now :)

Yes the remote is not upto the mark. It was good in the SD Box, but its a bit hard & a touch unresponsive for HD DVR.

Haha, ok! In our family, it always happens earlier than the actual day. We had it last week!

This is the look of Channel Guide with background Picture and Voice of Channel:

I recently noticed that there is a delay of 15 seconds between Telecast of Match on d2h and Cable TV. In Cable TV its getting telecast before and after 15 seconds on d2h.

I think HD broadcast is with a lag. Or that Cable TV itself is ahead of any DTH due to the technologies employed. This was being discussed during the World Cup in some Tata Sky thread.

It just not about cable tv but all dth are have difference in delay. Even you can check DD 1 / DD news which you can watch ordinary antenna of a tv & check timing between D2h & antenna telecast. 15 second delay I found about zee tv with D2h & cable. Hardly any channel was no delay in two telecasts.
