Am trying to install Windows Vista on my system, and when am trying to format partition D, its throwing error as "Windows cannot format 0x800424of". Although its formatting C drive normally. Earlier I had Windows Vista Ultimate in C drive and windows 7 in D drive. My system config is:AMD Phenom 2.2Ghz, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB WD HDD, Nvidia 9400GT Graphics Card. Any help would be appreciated !!

Vista by default takes NTFS right? If am not wrong.. I had Vista Ultimate installed earlier..There was some issues with Vista, so that's the reason I thought of formatting and re-installing again :wall:

I can install in other partition.. But how do I recover that sector.. Its not allowing me to create a partition for D drive.. Do I format my entire HDD?? Its just 1 month old system :(

I have about 60-70Gb of data.. I need to take up a back up.. Have to beg an external HDD.. But anyone can tell me about that error message..? Tried googling but no luck..
