Hey, The internet is working well in safari. But can anyone tell me how to make it work with other applications also ?Because not many other apps are loading the internet content from this method !

What version of the iPhone do you have?What data plan are you on? Are you on 3G or GPRS? What is the APN setting you are using?

I have :iPhone 3gS,Data plan currently is none (pay as per usage plan - 5p/10kb),3G Activated,Settings:APN : portalnmmsProxy Server and Port : 10.10.1.100 ; 9401(only safari and maps work)APN : wwwProoxy and Server Port : 10.10.1.100 ; (blank)(Only IM's work, now safari and other things won't work!)

I have :

Data plan currently is none (pay as per usage plan - 5p/10kb),
3G Activated,
Settings:
APN : portalnmms
Proxy Server and Port : 10.10.1.100 ; 9401
(only safari and maps work)
APN : www
Prooxy and Server Port : 10.10.1.100 ; (blank)
(Only IM's work, now safari and other things won't work!)
The portalnmms APN is primarily for wap services. Data access is limited through this APN. You would use this APN and server settings for setting up MMS. For using data services I would advise you use the www APN.
The easiest way to set this up would be to go to Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network and change your APN from there. change it to the following:
APN: www
Username:
Password:
If you need MMS, then in the MMS section use the first setting you mentioned in your post (portalnmms). If you don't need MMS then leave everything blank. I personally don't use MMS.
If you can't see the Cellular Data Network option on your phone then the easiest solution is to set ip your APN thru the unlockit website. for this you will need to be connected to wifi (or use your first setting you mentioned where Safari works).
Follow these steps:
1. Ensure you have a Wifi/Data connection.
2. Open Safari and go to unlockit.co.nz
3. Tap on "Continue"
4. Tap on "Custom APN"
5. Tap on the "carrier" option and scroll down and select "IN - Vodafone"
6. Tap on "Create Profile"
7. Install the profile that opens up by tapping on the "Install" button.
8. If required, reboot your phone.
Everything should be working now. Although I would advise you to get a 3G data plan. The pay as you go option will turn out to be very expensive once your apps start using data.
Let me know if this works for you.

I don't know exactly how , but i jailbroke my iPhone and it's working perfectly on everything now ! I didn't realize the jailbreaking was necessary for this concept to work ! :?
Anyway , it is working PERFECTLY now !
Even on 3G plan , it works too well ...!

I don't know exactly how , but i jailbroke my iPhone and it's working perfectly on everything now ! I didn't realize the jailbreaking was necessary for this concept to work ! :?
Anyway , it is working PERFECTLY now !
Even on 3G plan , it works too well ...!

I'm glad your data services are working. However, Jailbreaking your iPhone is not necessary for data to work on your iPhone. If I am not mistaken, you have an officially unlocked iPhone right? Did you change the APN?

You should be able to use any data pack as long as you have configured the correct APN. If you don't configure the APN according to your data plan then it is going to default to the Vodafone iPhone plan APN. In that case, irrespective of the data pack you have activated, it is going to charge you the pay as you go rates per the iPhone plan. That is what I'm suspecting is happening now.
