Vodafone India: Set up internet / GPRS on iphone - it worked

Safari, Google Maps, Mail and other apps that require an Internet connection will work.

Remove/ Uninstall any other APN you may have previously installed.

1. Enable your wifi
2. Open Safari
3. Go to unlockit.co.nz
4. Click continue
5. Click Custom APN
6. Select IN-Vodafone from carrier
7. Click Create Profile
8. It will redirect you to your setting and just click Install

You are now done and can recharge with Rs95/month 2gb

EVERYTHING WILL WORK!

a lot of people are asking how to setup / configure internet or GPRS on iPhone. even at one time i spend hours and hours to setup gprs on my iphone and worst part is that i dont have "cellular data network" option in my iphone but even though i am able to successfully configure vodafone live gprs on my iphone.

here are the steps:

step 1: you need to download a software "iPhone Configuration Utility"

step 2: connect your iphone & launch the program then click on configuration profiles.

Step 3: click on Advance option on your left hand side then click on configure button.

Step 4: enter "portalnmms" in first field which Access Point Name (APN)

Step 5: enter "10.10.1.100" in the last field proxy server

Step 6: enter "9401" in the last field Proxy Port

Step 7: That's all save the profile by any name like "vodafone"

Step 8 : Click on your device on the left hand side and choose Configuration Profiles.

Step 9: Click on Install option and soon you will see a pop on your iPhone asking your permission to install the configuration simply allow and you are done.


LAUNCH THE SAFARI BROWSER AND SURF THE INTERNET !!!!!!!!!!!:wewin::wewin::wewin::wewin::wewin:

I just want to warn people that this is very expensive. I was billed 200 rupees just for using 20 MB of data which is preposterous!If I am not mistaken 3G plan is 750 rupees for 2 GB data. So, it would be better to get the 750 plan instead of hacking into this mindless & expensive GPRS plan.This GPRS does not make any sense.

This GPRS does not make any sense.

I don't think Vodafone has a 2GB 3G data plan (at least not in AP). They have 1GB for 650 and 3GB for 850.

BTW.. Their 2G plans are cheaper.. 599 for unlimited data.

Why is Vodafone charging MORE for iPhone data plans? In Europe all Data plans = same price 9.99 Euro for Unlimited 3G Internet a month. (Both prepaid & post paid)
Speeds go down after a huge GB amount.

Is there a way to make this run completely?

I don't think you understand what the iPhone Configuration Utility does.. It helps you create a Configuration Profile for your device where you can manually configure different settings. The Unlockit website does exactly the same thing.. It creates a Configuration Profile for you device data settings. The only difference here is that the website makes it simpler to configure by eliminating the manual steps and giving you option menus instead. Both options will work for setting up your APN.

yeah i know that unlockit does the same thing, however if done with iphone config utility some apps will not work, like whatsapp, skype, viber, shazam app store , itunes store etc. And in my opinion i dont think people really have the patience to actually go ahead to do all the stuff with the config utility. And i feel that the unlockit makes everything really easy and user friendly. What would you rather use the config or unlockit

I've been using the iPhone configuration utility to set up my APNs for several years now. I've not had any issues and all of my apps work. I do agree that unlockit is a simpler solution and I recommend that to people who are not familiar with the config utility. The simplest solution though would be to just get an iPhone plan activated. Then you don't have to setup any APNs as they are already configured on your iPhone.
