Usually in the past when you threatened to move to another provider VF execs will give u the exact same plan that the Rival provider offers to keep you from shifting to the rival (what we like to call HIDDEN Offers)

Update; 29 Aug 2008I went to the store in the morning and tried the cancellations stunt.VF did not offer me the Idea 300min+200SMS free schemeBut they gave me the discontinued Corp FV199 200Mins+200SMS on my second number too

its pretty obvious that no one is going to leave vf just because of 100 min extra & give up an old no.getting new users can be a problem but idea has not done much publicity on mumbai level (ads on tv are on as usual) but most people in mumbai dont even know that idea exists. they need to spend much more on ads in mumbai to become a threat for the existing people.

I think they will do it. I guess all things are yet to be in place.

All MyIdea Galleries need to be in place first and all their dealers should have both Postpaid + Prepaid SIMs (which is not the case as of now).

Some dealers have nothing while some just have the Prepaid still as yet.

It's being said that Idea is waiting for some approval from TRAI or someone for their Value Plus 199 plan for offering 300 mins. That's prolly the reason why postpaid is lagging.

But when i talked with the Idea helpline on Thursday morning the executive explained that the ValuePlus 199 was available at the Idea Gallery at Borivali(W).
If I walk in even now they will issue it across the counter once i submit my 2 docs and a photo coz;
Y'day they called me back from the CC,and I explained that i dont need it coz VF offered me the CorpFV199

Maybe the smaller shops dont have the SIMS,etc. But the Idea Galleries have everything,yet I dont see them going all out to poach customers

I guess availability is the issue. Once they have stocked up their SIMs in every nook & corner, they'll start poaching.

BPL has already done that. They have some special offer for college students and they are lining like crazy in front of BPL Gallery for the past whole week. Just now I cross the gallery and their was a big que of college students. It had come till the road.

I expect Idea to do that and come with some offers like that. I am not too excited with their current offerings.

Couldn't have a look as the line/que was too much. I'll check if I can. But, AFAIK it's similar to MyGang I think or Vodafone Campus Pack or may be better.
