What would you do with a 100mbit/s or 1Gbit/s connection?

@Mgc....Yeah, but for users like me, it can easily get to insane proportions in uploading. I m not downloading much since long time now. But whenever my PC is on, i m uploading some or the other thing! Few of my torrents are seeding at 60/80/90 times of my download! Yeah they are obviously not 4-5 MB stuff for sure! :D Some of the stuff runs into several GBs!

As of this moment, I'm seeding 181 files (down from around 500 a few weeks ago, but most of those just weren't seeing any action), some of which I've been seeding for over a year now, and almost all of which are on private trackers, yet my stats say that my ratio is only about 2 since I last started uTorrent. My seeds are set to stop at 1000% but only a few of them even reach that, although I do have 1 file with a ratio of 2385.562 and another with 173.101 but they're the exceptions that prove the rule in my case. Despite this, my peak speed in the last hour has been all of 63kbyte/s, though in the hour before that someone was downloading from me at around 8mbit/s for 20 minutes or so.

As mentioned in the last post, however, it's entirely likely that I'm seeding different content: among my seeds are NOT things like the latest games or pop albums, but it's also true that the very nature of bittorrent does mean that with a high speed connection you will have to seed for a lot longer than it takes the download - even to reach a 1.0 ratio - and from my experience if you did manage to upload even 500% of what you download in any given month I'd be pretty surprised, but again, depends on the content. I suspect if I downloaded the kind of content you guys were all looking for and seeded it then my experience would be vastly different.

But i dont keep as many torrents seeding as u seem to keep! I have 4-5 of them seeding at a time! 181, that too down from 500 is just too much! :O

----------

My total downloads are around 66 GB & Uploads are around 500 GB....

181 seeding yes, but typically I don't see more than 10 active at any given time (my upload slots are set to 50 per torrent).

Yes, but in what timeframe?

It shows an uptime of 113 days, 22 hours.

You're pretty much proving my point beautifully: whether those stats are "total since you installed this client" or "total since you last booted this client", the fact is that to get a ratio of ~7.57 you've had to let it sit there for nearly 4 months - even if all 66GB was downloaded in the first 2 weeks.

Again, granting you that we are very likely downloading different content from different trackers/communities and you are very likely to have less upload speed than I do, what I'm trying to say is that having more upload speed might not affect that ratio as greatly as you might imagine.

If you'd like to suggest a way to even out the playing field and want me to test what my results might be on a particular file/tracker (testing for testing's sake), send me a PM.

But arent the figures reconciling well? What i downloaded in 2 weeks, i uploaded it 7.5 times in 4x4=16 or 15 weeks. So i uploaded 7.5 times in 7.5 times the download time!

Mgcarley, why don't you bring Hayai to Trivandrum? Seriously guys, you will become a monopoly with this kind of speed and service.

You we wouldn't, nor would it be our intention to. India does need what we shall call "basic services", the likes of which I'm happy to let other providers provide.
