honestly, if you are going to change your stance on whatsapp based on facebook's claims and promises now, it's best that you stay on whatsapp. whatsapp has a lot of problems even without the latest changes. one primary issue is the USD 19 billion dollars facebook paid for it. this money has to be recovered and for that it is always going to be a problematic platform. honestly, it was best when whatsapp was charging a dollar or two for a year of usage in early days. though i don't know anyone who paid that money eventually as they kept on extending the free period or something?

I don't mind going for paid one unless it turns out to be another whatsapp and takeover by another company.
I recall whatsapp used to charged a small amount.

Help me out with this one guys.. Before selling to another firm, is it not necessary to take opinions of it's paid users. I mean we paid for whatsapp and not for FB serviced app.

I am sure they will update the policy exactly like Whatsapp , they will be like use it if you want or you can leave the service in their T&C

Paying is no guarantee that your data will not get sold. Considering that we don't have any law that protects us. Also even if they are caught (most probably after a v long time), I am sure their insurance covers them. . We have enough examples in the past where big companies get away with anything.
