You can refresh the contacts list to get updated signal contacts from your address book. I assume signal only does it by itself on a schedule rather than in real time like telegram. I just refreshed and got a few new contacts in a few seconds. Signal has no privacy option from what I see to hide you from people who have you on their contacts. I could be missing something though.

Telegram does that. I haven't seen a peep from signal. Telegram has an option to disable alert on new contact sign up but that's it. Maybe the contacts appearing in my list are one way 🤣

They won't, if you continue to use it from Feb 8, that means you agrees by default. They might show a notification once but that's it. People will go back to chatting with their friends and all.

We've seen this before, almost recently with Instagram but who cares now. Privacy is a ded meme.

It's not all gloomy though. I'd still trust whatsapp over regular phone calls and sms.
It's still e2e, it's safe, pretty much everyone is on there. I can't see others scaling at the same rate.

Correct me if I'm wrong, they're just sharing what they were already collecting (metadata) with Facebook right?

Facebook didn't force anyone to use WhatsApp, we can only blame each other.

There, I just defended a billion dollar corporation ._.
