Just After Incoming become Free, I bought Airtel Prepaid in 2002 but due to ignorance and Airtel Loot Machao Policy at that time, I had throw the Sim Card bcoz at that time if balance goes to Zero, Incoming too were stopped.
After that tried madly for BSNL Sim Card. Keep Waiting in Queues for 3-4 days at 2 different BSNL ofices, but didn't get my number to the counter even. Once gt chance to reach to counter but till then SIM Card were finished.
Than, came the age of postpaid along with Reliance Infocomm Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer in December 2002 and booked immidiately. Since then never turned back to Prepaid. Altough there was huge discrepencies in Reliance Billing, Customer Care were blank and Web World Staff were irritating, still managed to get a waiver of Rs 16500 by following with Call Centre and Webworld. I remember people were using it madly and in mumbai alone people were using 501 offer of Reliance and throwing away the Handsets in Sea after making lacs of billing. (Horrifying days of Postpaid for Reliance Infocomm)
But after such huge waiver I learnt that, if one have a postpaid connection, company will do anything to provide service and retain then (although at that time there were almost Zero efforts for Retention by Telcos). In last 10 years, switched to Airtel, Reliance GSM, Vodafone,
Tata Indicom but remained in Postpaid only.
Some Best advantages of Postpaid which I have learned in last 10 yrs is:
1. I use for 30 days in advance, and in addition to that I pay that amount after another 18 days, that means a credit of 48 days for seamless connectivity.
2. Once I have subscribed to any plan or offer in postpaid, it continues even if is discontinued for new users (now a days its restricted to 6 months)
3. Retention plan is available only in postpaids and one who is knowledgable and smart can make best use of it.
4. Never had to run for payment at any outlets and stores for payments. All can be done online.
5. Detail Billing provide an option to fight for the operator for every single rupee wrongly charged.
6. People even come to your place to collect the payment amount.
7. While my number is in idle status in prepaid, there are chances of losing it because of hidden policies of many operators but in postpaid it safe to some level.
Much more benefits (can't remember more as of now), but YES Postpaid is always best in comparision to Prepaid

ok i have been recharging through
freecharge for the last couple of months. it has worked fine for me.
i get their coupons within 2 days... rarely used them. but recharge has always been instantaneous!

paytm.com is another new service. i wanted to try them out too... but they are still working on adding airtel.
I would suggest not to try paytm.com . I lost Rs 50 with them and balance was not credited.
