you said Apple sold 14million phones... can you or do you have any figures.. to tell me in which country were the maximum purchasers of the i-phone? secondly ... have you ever read about a poll survey conducted which states why and what people bought the i-phone because of what factors.... selling 14million peices is not a big deal.... the ps2 sold around 110million peices... that doesnt mean its a really good product...could be because of many other reasons.... more people now buy a ps2 because it retails for 5k whereas a new ps3 costs like 18k+ so dont talk volume.... talk about features... Hey after all there are so many products which are much better than their competitors but they manage to outsell them ...

the xbox 360 when launched was named as the end of the ps industry.. but with ps3 hardware and the QC Sony has maintained the ps3 has higher selling numbers per week than the 360....!

1. I have used all the iPhones.. even the 4 and i was pretty dissapointed with the battery life... even with that of the 4G... it was merely a 20% improvement over the 3GS

You should probably use google next time you enter a debate... with anyone and specially when the one is a geek .... i dont hate apple ... i like the Mac X servers (pretty impressive) but just some things like this make me feel sad for people like you who have no proper technical knowledge and just go out to buy the most ridiculously priced product in the market just because everyone is buying it...i dont want a flamewar..
all i am saying is that ... when you next buy an electronic item... search for other products which suit your need as well.....

Hey, I am using Airtel Edge on my iPhone (original) & iphone 4. Its pretty ok.
Especially mobile optimised sites work decently well.

Currently BSNL is the only operator offering 3G services, but if the 3G doesn't work in your HomeTown, it is a moot point !

Really ? how many of the above phones have you USED/OWN ?
I am using an iphone 4 for quite some time now and let me tell you there is *absolutely* no signal issue, no glass cracking nonsense.

The display is the highest resolution in *ANY* smartphone. I challenge you to prove me wrong.

Why dont you publish some stats about the above phones beating the carp outta the iphone 4?

And finally, the poster already *HAS* the iphone 4, so you are telling him he bought a piece of shit (along with another expected 13 million this quarter since launch ?)

Just for the record Apple sold 14 MILLION iPhones in the last quarter (jul-aug-sep). So apple is making guinea pigs of all of us !

Battery life - You said you have used the iphone - can you tell what alll you used and how much was the usage ?
I can give PROOF of long battery life.

You want to compare a mobile phone camera with a proper digital camera ? Wow what a way to state an argument.
Compare a MOBILE 5MP camera with another 5MP MOBILE camera, then lets see how good or bad is the iphone camera.

Let me go 1-by-1 through your observations -
Cheap glass - what ???????? Pl. define expensive glass or even cheap glass for that matter. If you mean it breaks when it falls - then yes it is cheap - It is glass after all !

cheap camera stops working - since when ? if yours stopped working return to apple store for free replacement of the phone

reversed buttons - ONE whole phone had that in the millions sold !

Yellow discoloration - FEW phones on LAUNCH DAY had that problem. Which went away after 3-4 days. And as usual apple gives free replacement at no cost, no questions asked.

No warranty in India - Yes. Why should apple provide warranty for products NOT LAUNCHED IN INDIA ? Local warranty is what apple gives. If you dont like that, dont buy the phone. Apple is not forcing anyone.

Lets talk about the HTC EVO 4G - Undoubtedly it must be a good phone. No arguments there. But do you know its only available on SPRINT in US and is a CDMA phone ? And how many 4g networks are there in india ? And : 0

Screen size - Matter of personal taste - Someone may want to buy a Dell Streak with its 7 inch screen - It makes calls too !

2. You dont even know how much RAM the iphone has do you ? (I know the ans). And as an end user why should people worry about that ?

3. You dont know what the A4 chip is either.

4. I dont know.

5. Dont know how the photos look or how good the Sensor is. Could be better.

6. What's so smart about HTC smart UI ? You need an OEM to install an UI because the OS UI is not good enough ?

I have not used iPhone much but can say one thing...Its hardware is not top notch.Further Apple tries to control everything from Apps, carriers (in USA), battery, OS.Hearing that iPhone got multi tasking now is enuf to avoid it.less said abt camera the better. (iphone 3GS cam was bad, not much details of iphone4 for me)Waiting for WP7 and Android 3.0 to launch...the market will be great then

Ok. Pl. check Apple site for the sales figures. The analysts call was yesterday and the figures are there.
1. Battery life - 20% bigger battery size translates to a hell lot of usage increase. Way greater than 20%. This is because the CPU is optimized and only sips less power.
My typical usage is around 2 hours of browsing, 2 hours of music, at least an hour of games, moderate phone use, moderate sms, push email and still by the EOD I cannot get the battery down to less than 50%. I can easily post usage stats from the phone.
2. You Yourself said sapphire crystal is comparable to aluminosilicate. Secondly on the so called glass gate issue, you quote an article which came in 1 blog and completely unsubstantiated. No facts, figures, examples. Just speculation. Pure FUD.
3. Camera shutter problems - Why quote from Nexus One blogs ? Obviously these are going to be biased.
Can you quote % nos ? Why are you equating manufacturing defects with the product ? Also on launch day and for some time around that there were devices with problems. You think apple does not fix defects ? Do other manufacturers make 100% manufacturing defect free products ? No body ever has any problems with their devices and hence no returns ? Check the date of the articles.
4. 1 year local warranty. They simply replace the phone with a new one.
5. ROM - Why do you or anyone care about ROM. It is read only memory and used only by the phone. What is your point here ?
6. So what ? Snapdragon itself is based on ARM cortex v7 architecture. Big deal. A4 is licensed from ARM and then improved by apple. Samsung does the same, fyi.
7. Cant comment without looking at the evo 4g which is only on sprint.
8. Again why does a OEM need to add a skin ?
9. I dont know, because I have not tried it so cant comment. No point in just googling for something.
10. Never mattered to me personally or all the people that I know. Even when I had other phones with removable battery. Never had a buy a new or a 2nd battery. Dont feel the need now.

So in the end what you are saying that the evo is a better phone than iphone. could be ! Havent seen it, not interested in CDMA, never been to America so no chance of seeing it.

Or that there arent any other good (android) phones in the market ? Of course there are. Is the Droid X a bad phone ? Of course not. whatever I have read is good.
But too big for my liking. 4.3 inch screen not my taste.havent seen it. Only available in US.

My point is don't spread FUD. There are some features that others phones have. And vice versa. Some features on the iphone which are outstanding, some which the others dont have. etc etc. Finally the complete package is what appeals to buyers and the iphone happens to be way up there (14 million this quarter and counting).
App store is brilliant. Android marketplace is still not mature. Will get there 1 day, but not currently.
Latest android OS does not run on all android phones. That is a killer when all models are current models and cant run the OS.

In the end I bought the phone I like, you will buy the phone that you like. Thats it.

I dont want to enter into the argument nor do i feel that the iPhone is the best phone but the thing which most people well versed with technology tend to forget that the average user doesnt care much about the RAM , processor etc . These are precisely the kind of people which apple attracts . There is nothing right or wrong about buying a phone based on looks or anything else for that matter , different people value different things in a phone . For example , just yesterday , i was seeing a website where they had compared the camera's of Nokia N8 and the iPhone 4 . With my (very little) knowledge of photography it was evident N8 had a superior camera and photos were natural but to my surprise some commentators thought the iPhone 4 camera's oversaturated pictures were better because they probably looked (for lack of a better term) "happy" . I could obviously use post processing on the n8 pics and make them like the iphone 4 . So its really a matter of perception .

Only when people read something here or there which by itself is unsubstantiated, sometime biased and then start arguing without having *handled* the phone themselves (not referring to aurorapwn) that it becomes stupid.
