Which LCD TV to buy?

I want to buy a LCD TV, 26 inch, under 35k.The only requirement is should be good and durable.I want one which can work for atleast 8-10 years without any problems.That is good quality. I have heard that though the companies claim 20 years life, the LCDs don't even last 5 years! That too for brands like LG, etc.Is it true? Please friends, anyone who has bought one LCD tv, experienced player, help me get a good one!

well i bought an Hitachi model last month. 26" for around Rs. 34000. I think its quality was better than Sony, LG, Philips and Samsung model.Only one year warranty. I guess with these new generation of crapness we need complete cover. Things are looking bad. You can no longer buy things knowing they would last a generation. You end up paying an yearly cost for them the second year warranty is around Rs. 5K... For 9K I can get a 29" Onida CRT TV!

are u ltd to 26" LCD because of size?? because at the price tag of 35000, u can even go for even 32" which will make more sense in terms of choice..

dude its a TV... u have to go out and check them personally to see how well they are... specifications are secondary...btw, zee dish tv at my place suck on these bigger sized television sets. star world was so smudgy, it looked like i was watching a pirated print.

32" for 35k is .... i don't think it justifies! so cheap!!! must be something wrong!that's why aiming at buying a GOOD LCD TV for 35k (26") .For IPTV (Mtnl :rofl and also for DVD player!

well the cheaper 26" models can be purchased for around 25-26K... Sony model i saw was for 32K... Hitachi was the most expensive at 34K...i guess cheaper Samsung or LG models (32") can be found out at around that price tag.

it has only 1 TV in 26", i.e. 26S400A, its MRP is 35000 but in gray you get in 28000

in 32" for the same series, i.e. 32S400A its MRP is 48000 but in gray you get in 36000

u have to sacrifice the bill & warranty for higher size. prices are in mumbai, dunno for delhi


edit: if only 1 year warranty is available, not much use. even these gray market people give 1 week to find any defects. Generally i have noticed that a perfectly working TV will not find a problem for an year at least, i understand this is not always true

but is Sony better or Hitachi.i have heard (in this forum too earlier) that Sony provides the best and stable products which can work efficiently for years without any probs.

i personally recommend Sony though but many say that sony has gone down since they started manufacturing in china & thailand. also Hitachi is very good, 1 of the few remaining famous japanese companies which still manufactures in japan.basically compare the models & prices. both are equally good
