I got e6300 only. And it has 2x2MB L2 cache...i.e. 4Mb totalBut I am having heating issues with it sadly.

I have a slightly different problem. Please guide me someone. Currently my desktop has an Intel DG965SS mainboard with an Intel D805 (533 MHz) processor and 2x512 MB 800 MHz DDR2 ram. The hdd is a Seagate 250 GB SATA2. I have an oportunity to get an advanced processor. Which higher-faster processor could be used. The mainboard socket is LGA775 and I do have an additional mainboard fan. The intel weblink for the mainboard does mention Core2Duo upto 1066 MHz or 800 MHz. Which model would be value for money in Mumbai? Can a core2quad be workable with this mainboard?

@boygr8

I suggest you refer to this thread, and go for an assembled rather tham branded PC. You have more choice and flexibility. Just make sure you choose the right place to get you PC assembled.

And ya, you can contact sneezymelon, he had a list of his configuration. Very nice configuration in a bit higher range (40-45k).

^ look at the date. hes already got his pc. :p

@snpexim- a quadcore wont be supported by your motherboard. for compatibility list check this.
my suggestion would be get a new motherboard and a e6750 with it if you can. or if you cant spend much, you could also try an amd processor and mobo setup.

Viralbug ... Well, if quad pro is out, please suggest a processor upgrade. I do not have budget to go for a new mobo and pro. I was thinking more in line with trading in the current D pro and getting an upgrade like E6600 or E6420. Its too expensive to keep up with the constant 'new' mobo's and pro's. So, I prefer to keep one year in the rear. :P Comments please!!

i dont think youll find an E6600.an E6420 will be a better upgrade.

@viralbug What would be the budget for the E6420 in Mumbai?
