assembled is always better. you dont have to buy an operating system.you dont have to rely on HP's customer care which can suck.you have the freedom to mess with the configuration. as much as you like without hurting the warranty.and branded computers are what? same components sold in the assembled market with a sticker?

yep, but already bought the compaq config......i was still hesitant about the assembled PC since my current PC is also a compaq oneBtw, it does not come with OS, it comes with FreeDOS........lately most manufacturers have realised....there's no use selling OS to Indians

would be interesting to see if they would support your computer if you ask them for support with a PC with a pee-rated OS.

I think they only give hardware support......who needs support for software anyways?

How about best of both world's.
A 965 motherboard with E4300 and 7300gs.[/b]

wats the difference between E4300 and E6300

And between these -

1. Intel 965P Mobo

2. Intel 945G mobo

also could ull tell me the price difference between the two :)

dood. your best option would be to get some configurations from the net and the prices from the local dealer. no one would be able to tell you what a particular component would cost in your local market. but yeah an idea would be good enough.

E4300 is clocked at 1.8Ghz with 800Mhz FSB and has 2MB L2 cacheE6300 is clocked at 1.86GHz with 1066Mhz FSB and has 2MB L2 cache945 chipset supports only upto 800Mhz FSB ,it was actually launched for p4,then modified to work for core2.whereas 965 was designed with core2 in mind,it has better memory controller, supports 1066Mhz bus (Some 965 boards support quad core and 1333Mhz bus as well) and upto 800Mhz DDR2..

I think e6300 has 4 MB L2 cacheAlso 965 supports upto 8 GB RAM(4 slots) whereas 945 supports upto 4 GB(2 slots)

^^^ e6300 has 2mb l2 cache.i agree with leomax. it would have been a better option. maybe even better if you could have got e6300.who said cpu's dont matter?? they are the most important part! i would recommend getting the best cpu you can get alongwith a decent mobo. other things like ram and gpu can be upgraded easily later. :)also 1 gb ram is minimum requirement today.
