why my line rate fluctuates from time to time during the day ?

You definitely have a bad line,may be due to the bad pair in the UG cable or your line has too many uncovered or rusted joints,talk to your line man and ask him for a pair change in the cable.

I am tired. It is hardlly 15 days, when the field man came and fixeed the problem , by changing the line , port change, i think so. He asked me to dial 0 after taking up the cradle and hear the ring tone. Perfect no noise. He says that is the test for best line. I have near 8.1 snr db and getting a stable line rate. It was only for a few days. Then i saw the line rate changes suddenly to too low near 5mbps.And some times, it was too low.
How come a good line changes to bad line value in a few days.
I never had a fixed line rate , as Danish says.
the attainable rate also fluctuates.

Hi, Tyme, What is actually a port change. Is it changing your line to some unused lilne. i want to know academically. Or is that different.
Normally, a big cable containing so much internal wires of different colours are passing thro the main connection line. And this line is connected to the telephone pole from where your two end copper line or drop cable wire are connected to your home and few near homes neighbourhood.
What is port change? please.
ONce, somebody cut the main cable and we lost both tele and bb connection. I saw the repair process. A technician came and connected the wire of different colours in a combination of correct matching the colour inside the main cable. He says that, these connections takes time but important that it gives the correct ringtone on testing. He was having some kind of tapes, to differentiate the wire connection .
 
i had a broadcom chip based modem before and very recently i purchased the D-Link modem which does not have abroadcom chipset. i will say that the reltek chipset dlink uses is bad. it flactuates snr too much. i get this flacuation from 6 to 15. in the same place my faulty power adapter of the earlier modem gave a range from 5 to 9 db. i think for longer connection its best to go for a broadcom based modem.
 
@rajujayaraman earlier if a connection ws broken they used to properly waterproof it.by using various methods,using gel,tabes,plastic and finally a protective cover. but now i dont see all those protective methods used.

Hi, Ink, what is your dlink modem model? abroadcoam chip. I never heard it .Please say how much it costs. What about the specific chip. I am having realtek pc le fe fasat ethernet card which supports 10 mbps.
i have selected adsl+,adsl2+and annex L. I do not enable M annex , as it will increase the upsteam at the cost of donwstreams.

Hi, Ink and all , one more query, how the access point ip is shown as configured dns, when i have the bsnl ips of configured dns , shown in router is not reflecting in ipconfig commands or in any software router check. I am using Routercheck for pc, asa it gives the name of the dns and also the actual dns server that your are connected at all times . It also checks router vulnerabilites and found it more useful than any other ruter check software.
Any explanation of port change by experts please

i too have the same modem you are having.
broadcom is the chipset used inside the modem we use. D-Link these days uses reltek modem which does not do well in long distance connection.they hold the line steady for the lowest snr like 2 or 3 db. i have experience with it.
earlier dlink version had the broadcom chipset and they are the industry leaders.i took D-Link because it has 3 yrs warranty. not happy with its performance.
 
I set the time with the pool.ntp.org.
i tried copy pc time, it is not useful, it again reverts to 1970 onnce reboot.
Please say more on it , as i and Ink would love to try that fix, as both are having the same D-Link modem.

I have terracom modem , which does not have any firmware update. So avast, shows rom 0 vulnerability, where your config page could be hacked. So, i discontinued. searched for patch updates, but the company itself has gone to wind.
How to know if your modem has a broadcom chipset?
