Hi 1) Can someone explain me why services like Tata Photon / Reliance Netconnect+ / MTS / Airtel 3G cannot offer unlimited plans? I know they do have unlimited plans but it comes with a Fair Usage Policy. When I say unlimited I mean completely unlimited like what reliance broadband offers with their wired services. Any reason why they do this?2) With their unlimited plans they have a line that reads "Post consumption of bundled data (at speeds up to 3.1 Mbps), Unlimited Usage will be available at speeds up to a 153.6Kbps.".So is the speed actually 153kbps or its way lower than that? How much approx? Thanks

They will not make profit. That will choke up the bandwidth as some people are crazy and will continue to download rubbish till their hard disks fail.Wireless services have limited spectrum.

and i really hope they don't ever come out with something like that !
i use vodafone 3g as backup and as such i wud like atleast 2-4 mbps constant speed on that. It would only be possible as long as there are no crazy people downloading 200-300gb a day around me !

Due to the overwhelming cost of the 2G/3G Spectrum , Telco does not offer Unlimited Packages on Data Cards. The Telco seem to dedicate most of the Bandwidth towards Voice and less bandwidth towards Data.
Please note that I am not talking about Bandwidth which can be utilized either by Voice or Data. A Simple calculation reveals that a Voice Channel takes 6.5Kbps / 13Kbps Bandwidth depending upon the codec used so Telco have more benefit in Voice Calls rather than allocation Bandwidth for Data Services.

who told data cards do not offer unlimited usage without fup? check BSNL EVDO. they offer full unlimited upto 3.1mbps without any fups at 750 per month.
