By mentioning about how Windows 7 activates I didn't encourage anyone to use the 'patch' as you mentioned.

So I don't think I've done an illegal thing ;).

I just wanted to point out it was caused not because of the activation but of the driver changes :)

from my past experience a activated windows will not boot even if you change rams or interchange rams in slots / change network card or change processors / change harddisk via cloning etc.

I just wanted to point out it was caused not because of the activation but of the driver changes :)

And I wanted to point out exactly why it was caused !

Nice Post Guys..
its really a help and free from hassle carrying a DVD instead a pocket punter USB drive :hysterical:

Check out 'OStoGO' from A-DATA Technology

'OStoGO assists you to convert Microsoft Windows Vista/7 Setup DVD to your USB Storage Device (e.g. USB Flash Drive, External USB Hard Drive, or SSD with USB port). Then you can install Microsoft O.S. via USB Booting instead of DVD Booting. OStoGO is an alternative solution to install OS for PCs and laptops without optical drives.
Final release in: Nov. 2009.

This release (v0.99) is compatible with Win XP/Vista/7. '

yeap. it sucks. the starter edition is a joke. even the basic edition is a joke.

thankfully my cousin called me when he was buying a laptop. i told him specifically to not touch any model with windows 7 home basic.

Microsoft has pulled the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from the Microsoft Store website after a report indicating that the tool incorporated open-source code in a way that violated the GNU's General Public License (GPL).
