Dude you seem to be telling the symptoms of SPAM MESSAGES that are delivered to you in when you are offline.
Relax its nothing to worry about.

there are bots that crawl through websites and harvest email ID's ,messenger ID's and such data.
Once harvested these ID's are sent SPAM messages,
much like the SPAM folder in your yahoo mailbox.

Relax,everytime u see such thing Block the user(Report as SPAM), and delete the message.DONT FOLLOW THE LINK, OR U'LL DOWNLOAD A VIRUS

Also Try not to post ur ID/YahooEmail on websites and Forums, coz thats how they get ur ID in the first place

Hello Skorpio,First of all thanks for your reply. You are right that i had given my email id to many sites for the conformation and all. Some of the links direct me to porn sites. The messages keep on popping out. I am planning to re install messenger. Lets see whether can i clear it. Any opinions are welcome.

no reinstalling will not help utry scan ur system files with good antivirusone of ur yahoo files is infected with advare

You can also use antimalware/ antispyware programs such as Spybot or Ad-aware.
There is a difference in reinstall and install fresh copy.
If running AV etc clears the problem, updating YM will do.
Else you have to UNINSTALL present Version of YM and then download a new version.
That is why I asked you to make a copy of the present contacts list .

If you are using kaspersky antivirus, then disable it and run yahoo messenger. See if it connects. If it connects then u have to change some settings in kaspersky like disable web traffic protection. I too faced similar problem with rediff bol. Now after disabling some protection. I can use rediff bol.

EDIT : I added rediff bol in trusted applications list and enabled the protection which I disabled earlier. Now it works....
