Went to the Airtel Express shop at Shivaji park Mumbai. Address:
Flat No.1 & 1A, Bhaskar Bhuwan,233, L.J. Road,Mahim, Mumbai, Mahim ARC, Maharashtra 400016
I was told Vodafone postpaid to Airtel prepaid can't be done. A postpaid plan 399-/ was being pushed. Some story of shop going to be renovated so we can't do porting to prepaid was given to me. V disappointed. Also prepaid will be available only after May. I don't understand what's the connection between their store renovation & porting to prepaid. Total load of BS.
GAve my feedback to Airtel via DM on twitter.

Hey. I think we are neighbours. Go to Airtel Prabhadevi, opp Beaumonde towers and ask for Suraj. Tell him just last week you ported out 4 numbers of Ritesh and you were referred by him. Like I said, don't even mention you are on Vodafone postpaid. Tell Vodafone prepaid to Airtel Prepaid, Give him the UPC and you are good to go. Lie for your own benefit, else they will give all sort of nonsense.
Airtel just has to input the new Sim serial number, UPC and a bunch load of details and they are good to go. And later when you get retention calls from Vodafone, even if you don't pick up any, the porting cannot be stopped. With the new portingrules, once UPC is generated ( which is only if all criteria to port out is met)and Receipient company has the UPC no one in this world can reject the Port.

@socrates Stores can be nasty. Download Airtel app. And Opt for prepaid. Choose porting. They will deliver SIM at home (for Rs 99) and pickup documents as well. Cuts all the middle men.

True, I ported an Idea MH to Airtel Prepaid Mumbai online. The homedelivery guy fleeced 299 in the pretext of FRC by asking me to do a Paytm payment to his Boss, along with the 99 delivery charges. The port changeover happened Saturday Night and the guy was not reachable on Sunday. So I did the FRC for 249 on Sunday and tweeted how I got fleeced. Airtel Social Media got in touch with the Home delivery agent and made him refund my money over Paytm again.

Thanks for the tips to port to Airtel, I am planning to port one of my prepaid Jio #s to Airtel only to have a choice of networks when I travel.

Cheers!

@spsp92 Heard it's decent in my area. But will have to check with more knowledgeable people.
@riteshriteshritesh 😃 Is it. I went to the shop in Mahim in the evening (as suggested by the twitter team) & the address on shitel site is WRONG (yes that's true, it 3 bldgs away from location mentioned) & because of the metro work its a nightmare getting to the shop finally. He said he would do it but v v reluctantly. 🤦‍♂️

Main problem is in the office location Jio does not work so shitel is the remaining option.

Huh Good start, then what the F were they doing from 1995.

Having seen both VF and ICL up pretty close believe me when I tell you these b******ds were laughing all the way to the bank. Up to Rs 250/GB and about Rs 1.5-5 for outgoing calls depending on plan back in the mid 2Ks right through to 2015/2016. Remember, how we stupid customers still thought we were getting a great deal?!

These pricks never expected to get rogered so completely and thoroughly by the new upstart Jio. The final stake in the heart was the AGR demand. The SC took a dim view of these Telecom companies ducking their dues and filing court cases to delay payments. Dues, that THEY had agreed to pay the Govt. in the 1st place back in '05/'06.

But VILs network is so buggered up in Pune (FUBARed is the right word actually) and surrounding areas that I won't touch this duo with a bargepole even if they are resuscitated from the dead. F**$ you VIL. I hope you live for the sake of those who love your service but I'll never do biz with you again.

I went to the Vodafone store at Mahim which is officially open when I went there now I find only ONE person in the entire shop sitting at the cashier's table. On telling him our work he dismissively tells us to come between mon & Fri. If this is so then why on earth have they kept the store open that too with 1 guy sitting at the cashier's? What r they expecting? A donation from someone? If they can't give service then close shop & get out. These guys r not fit to be in this biz.

if all leave vodafone then it will collapse on its own, i would recommend dont switch out of vodafone, if at all it will shut down we will have time to port out or other operator will take over
