Director Roland Emmerich revealed on Thursday that two more have joined the cast of Independence Day 2 – Joey King (Oz The Great and Powerful, The Conjuring, White House Down) and Brent Spiner (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”). Spiner appeared in the 1996 original as Dr. Brackish Okun.

Spiner will return to the franchise as Dr. Brackish Okun. How does he return being that he was killed by the alien in Area 51? That’s truly going to be interesting. My guess is he’ll appear on some videos uncovered from Area 51, although a character did imply he was only in a coma. So, yeah, they were already planning this sequel back in 1996…
