BSNL Broadband's new revolutionary (lol) broadband plans with minimum 2mbps speeds (lol)

Today I went to BSNL exchange for LL bill payment and asked them about this.. As usual those old ladies don't know anything....
You are right.. In my exchange also there is old lady [emoji4].. Last good news from bsnl came when this plan of 750 came with 512kbps speed and no fup.. And It was donkey years

Even 2 Mbps won't run 720P(It doesn't on mine). As i said earlier,i am curious to know as to what will happen to other plans such as mine 1445 UL(2 Mbps till 20 gigs then 1 Mbps)? Will they increase mine to 4 Mbps or shut this plan down?

yup. general logic suggests that bsnl would need to completely overhaul their packages if minimum speed becomes 2mbps. the cheapest plans would probably disappear because they would no longer remain financially viable. now one has to wonder how long bsnl would survive if their cheapest plans cost upwards of rs. 1500.

well there are few other developing markets which are of the size comparable to india with a large population like ours. brazil and indonesia are two that comes to mind. things are just slightly better there from my understanding.

Brazil and Indonesia are way behind India when it comes to IT sector. Keeping in mind that India is one of the biggest outsourcing hub for IT industry, its unthinkable to sustain IT growth on 512 Kbps. India needs better broadband speeds/service for competitive IT sector as well as domestic internet market. Wasn't that the whole idea about Digital revolution?

large parts of america still connects to internet through dialup because they are living in countrysides with no major isp serving their areas. another large part of america has only one or at best two options because of area division by rival companies. so consumers end up with pretty expensive services which are nowhere near the top of the class compared to the remain parts of america which has good options to connect to the internet. america is not exactly leading the chart of countries with incredible internet speeds. yet, it is home to every major tech company on this planet. india is doing fine wrt e commerce because majority of the consumers are accessing the internet on their mobile devices. and this is just going to expand in the future. you do not need 100mbps connections to shop online or to even access basic internet services. and they have pretty solid options on their portable devices. much better than wired connections in most parts of the country.

Won't happen. No one except a few would even entertain the thought of 1.5k(inclusive of taxes). If reliance can provide 4 Mbps for 1099 and other private companies can provide even higher speeds then surely being a government owned company(regardless of the crap service)can provide even 8 Mbps at fair rates.Well we will get the full view on Oct 1 as to whether BSNL can act on their announcement whilst 2016 is nearing or produce smokes and mirrors under FUP and laud it as "REVOLUTION".

My gut feeling says it will happen but head says we are in another Fraud in the name of FUP.
