Downgrade to 8mbps. With your line, they should not have commissioned 16mbit in the first place.

And 900m from DSLAM is not a very large distance so to speak. I doubt that distance is the cause of your poor connection.
They are sending someone over tommorow.Lets see.

Couple of months back i upgraded to special 649 unlimited gb (1mbp) combo plan (Bangalore)

Today my browser got redirected to Airtel Smartbytes page with the following notification:
Your monthly high-speed data limit is: 5 GB
Top-up :1.0 GB
You are left with: 0.0 GB

Your speed is now revised to 512 Kbps

First of all,WTF did my plan get changed to the one i had before this ? :wondering: (699 for 2mbps upto 5GB thereafter 512kbps)

Secondly, this 5 GB FUP limit plan is no more applicable since it does not appear on the tariff page anymore ,so why did they give this to me ?

Thirdly, can plans get changed without customers approval ?

Airtel site doesn't show 649 plan in Bangalore.

Yes,you're correct,it was a special plan available a few months back. What i'm confused about is why they put me back on the 699 plan, since it too has been removed from the Bangalore plans and is no longer available.

The basic (cheapest) Bangalore plan now starts at 999.

Yes. They're obligated to keep you on the same plan for six months. Beyond that, they're free to do as they please. All ISPs have this clause. That airtel makes the most use of it, is a separate story.
