Kerala: BSNL Bharat Fiber New Plans (30/100/200/300mbps)

Had the same experience with ADSL switching from 650 to 675. Waited for days nothing happened, went and gave a written request, plan changed the same day or the next, can't remember.

@varkey I really cannot make sense why such a big difference exists between rural and urban areas. Amount of fibre needed in both places amounts to almost the same. In fact it is easier to just partner with KSEB in the rural areas and use their posts to lay out fibre optic cable. Yes staggered arrangement of splitting has to be done, but overall I feel rural expansion is easier? Also Most places in rural Kerala don't really qualify to be called rural in 2020.

Isnt that what they are doing already ? .. i thoughts its like that everywhere. In my Area BSNL fiber goes through KSEB posts ( No LCOs involved, but BSNL franchisees )

Yeah same in my area too. They laid out close to 20km fiber in a month before lockdown. I was impressed at their efficiency. On boarded some 80 odd customers in a span of 2 months. It's not that there's no demand in the rural areas or no economic feasibility. It's just unmet need for broadband access.

Yeah bro. Gram Panchayath system is actually a latent success story in a lot of places in Kerala. For instance, in my place, metalled roads were breaking up every rainy season, and a fresh one had to be done. Finally the gram panchayat decided to take it over, floated our own tenders, and got it done. It's been 5 years, no potholes yet (touchwood). Same with mobile towers too. Franchisee model is being adopted here.
I'm still in a panchayath because my area was classified as such during the '91 census, but that's about it. It's only a village on paper.

Add: The effect of failing to reclassify it makes it impossible to get BSNL babus to budge. The new plans are not for Panchayaths, according to them. They don't care that the LCO's here have rolled out top notch ODNs. People aren't dumb out here like they make it seem. The cable fellows here did a good job keeping in mind optical power levels and split ratios. If only they didn't treat Panchayaths like shit.

I contacted the Thrissur LCO and they responded by stating that the new plans haven't yet been rolled out for our SSA and they haven't received information regarding the rollout either.
