I'm looking for two televisions: A 32 inch one, and a 40/42 Inch one. Needs options in both categories. Connectivity will be a Tata Sky HD box, and a PS3. Also USBs from time to time. The TV should also have an option for being able to attach either a sound bar or HTS later next year. I don't know whether a LED will be better or a LCD or Plasma. Please advise. I'm only looking for a Samsung, Sony or LG TV. No other brand. Also I want this TV to run at least 5 years. Budget isn't decided yet, but I doubt it'll cross 40K. Take 30-42K as a range. Any suggestions?

A processor can't improve display in anyway. And FPS is a different area. Honestly smart tvs are dead on arrival
I know that, by processor i meant picture engine. Smart TVs are more like premium TVs. On a simple LED you would get less usb, hdmi ports. On smart TV you get much better motion clear rate, better picture engine, better picture engine, better design and maybe better audio

I differ. Pic engine, motion clear rate blah blah are just a gimmick. Have seen LED non smart tvs that have 3-4 hdmi ports More thin means better design?
IMO. Evn the whole LED tech is not the best. It is still inferior to dying Plasma. LED is LCD technology, the more poeple think LED back lit sets are new tech. Actually all the LEDs should be labeled as LED LCD or LED back lit.
Plasma dying due to high power consumption (Consumes nearly 50% extra than a LED LCD) But that can be reduced to 20-35% if you use it smartly, I personally say it's worth the extra for the best viewing experience. Also the general ignorance of the people is another reason for dying plasma (way too much bull out there about plasma). It'll be maybe another 5-6 years then LED LCD will also go. Thats if OLED is good enough by then (OLED tech has many issues that has to be solved before it reaches the enduser).Plasma is still the best value in the larger screen sizes IMO. It's has the excellent contrast and black levels than any LED tvs out there in the market; effortless motion; uniform illumination over the entire screen area, good picture depth, Best viewing angles
Evn today the plasma beats any LED LCD in many aspects. If you would love watching 1080i live cricketsports lover. Plasma 'll give you the ultimate experience than any premium priced LED. Evn for hd moviesvideos Plasmas also excel at showing deep blacks, which equates to better contrast and more-detailed images. Plasma TV also been known for better colors. The LED-backlit LCD TVs that dominate the current market have closed the color gap.
Manufacturers killed plasma to cut cost, they can make 2 LEDs against a plasma. So they made consumers to believe that LED is superior, Even the upcoming OLED is not 100% perfect.

Don't believe what you see in the shops. Salesmen in shops obviously 'll keep the so called expensive tvs to look better by tweaking the pic settings. Few months ago, I & my friend visited the local shop to buy him a led. LED was the only thing in our mind, since it came with the latest tag. We visited next (Videocon priority products shop with other brands also being sold).
The salesman there was trying to push a samsung 32 inch LED by convincing us. It was whooper expensive for the size because it's latest, it also had the so called clear motion rate or whatever you say (Clear motion rate increase the black level (with the help of LED back lid) of a video, so the pic 'll look more sharp, that it). Also a Panasonic plasma 50 inches & A videocon LCD on display side by side along with Samsung LED. All were playing same full hd content, The pic quality looked litter blur in LCD, more worse in Panasonic Plasma.
My friend got convinced to go with LED. But the price difference btw 50 inches plasma n 32 inches LED was just 10k+ He liked the panasonic plasma for the size & price. So he couldn't decide between the two. Sales man was trying to traduce plasma to push LED.
We decided to explore the two in depth. We asked for the remote control of both tvs, explored the picture tweaking options of both tvs, We tried different settings of our liking, After tweaking Believe me the pic quality's stunning in plasma than LED. We spent nearly 8 hrs in the shop and took 50 inch panasonic plasma to home.
And with 3 yrs warranty for the tv, My friend is very happy with his purchase. With the Tata Sky HD connection, The picture quality looks amazing.
Btw earlier plasma version had the screen burn issues. Later it's been sorted reduced to 0-5%.

Well I purchased my Plasma 42" HD TV 2.5 Yrs before for 44 K...Still now its working fine with out any issues....
When i purchased some people told that its old fashioned go for LCD or LED, screen burn issues & electricity consumption.....
I would always suggest people not to go for LCD which i believe out of market....
Plasma is also good TV...now a days these screen burn issues are solved....if you are budget is not allowing to go for LED....you can very well opt for Plasma TV.....Nothing wrong in it....

First you need to read what motion clear rate is...

Right, I remember discussing the same already here in this forum. It's related to Refresh Rate. The Clear Motion Rate metric was invented by Samsung (It's only for a marketing gimmick), to represent better the clarity of movement. The refresh rate alone isn't sufficient to represent the motion blur, so on top of it they added the image processor rate as well as the backlight speed. While it is true that the refresh rate alone isn't sufficient to qualify motion blur, Samsung is often misleading because it will sometimes only display the CMR instead of the real refresh rate of the panel. This makes it a lot more confusing when comparing TVs across brand, where you better compare the real refresh rate.A 120Hz CMR is not equal to 120Hz of refresh rate. A 120Hz CMR will most probably have a 60Hz panel. Which means that if you compare a TV that has a 120Hz of real refresh rate vs a 120Hz CMR, the real 120Hz is most likely better.
Planning to buy 40 inch LED FULL HD. Budget 50k. Plz help
