No. It means that Tata (that is, DoCoMo, Indicom and Virgin Mobile), Aircel and Loop (and Idea) subscribers will have to effectively partner with and/or purchase use of the networks owned by the companies which did win in Bombay.

So that means being a loopmobile subscriber my 3g services will be a little more expensive than those of vodafone, airtel or reliance in bombay...? hmmm... darn... Sometimes I think loopmobile is just dying... It exists only in Bombay... No real ad campaigns nothing... Although they have been pioneers of a lot of todays common services; I dun really see them coming up... More like stagnating and withering... I love bplmobile

While they've done the best, they've just devalued Vodafone India by about 25% in their FY2010 results (the market cap has slumped).

Anyway, Vodafone has always had to buy international bandwidth (data and voice) from someone else... or did I take that out of context?

Only LOOP can tell you that. I would imagine that they would be able to match the prices offered by Vodafone etc - such is the nature of buying wholesale services.

Vodafone isn't going to charge LOOP & others the same fee for network access that consumers pay - LOOP will pay a wholesale charge, and essentially speaking, LOOP will be little more than another billing mechanism for whomever they procure services from, taking a certain margin for their sales efforts.

wasn't it bought by Hutch and then under Vodafone?- if that is still the case then loop will get cheap prices only
Essars have a share in it

other will have to pay like companies pay for broadband to the bandwidth sea line owners Airtel,Reliance and TATA.

Plus Vodafone and other companies that don't own sea lines will also have to pay for bandwidth to TATA,RELIANCE AND AIRTEL

Yea obviously they wont pay Vodafone what the vodafone consumers will pay vodafone... But in the end loop will be paying more to vodafone than what vodafone is paying to the government and for its infrastructure... So essentially if it is expensive for loop than it is to vodafone in the end it will be more expensiev for loop subsribers than it is for vodafone subscribers... Even if loop earns lesser profits the selling price will be a little higher than the vodafones...

yeah but now with 3G when people are using their sim cards on laptops,phones,desktops and other devices.the bandwidth usage will be higher.

first people didn't use so much the wireless services but now they are going to and they should consider owning a bandwidth line as they are one of the elite telecom companies in INDIA.

myself and other people are even consider dumping wireline and going totally on 3G for all uses.

Loop lives my friend... It is surviving.. I dunno how... Vodafone didn't buy it; Essar did... And they also have a stake in Vodafone...

Now that 3G auction is over and winners are declared, news is that 3G service could start by Sept.My doubt is would my existing sim card (Vodafone pre-paid) directly start receiving 3G service in Maharashtra (Vodafone won spectrum here) or would I need to get new sim card for 3G services?
