We will be getting LTE for sure, maybe this december by reliance ;) , US has the LTE advance now and spreading.

existing 900 mhz telcos will also get the spectrum @700mhz but at a later stage as per reports....The daunting task will be the refarming of 800 & 900 mhz bands and shifting their users to 4G standards.

As per current strategy doesn't look so. Even if Govt plans to include Older Operators , then 1800 Mhz operators will be given chances, because infra cost is 4X in 1800Mz as compared to 800 & 900 Mhz.

Yes, we can hope Augure and Infotel to launch LTE by year end.

Why go for 4G before using 3G fully? The department of defense has released only 20Mhz per circle and some 200Mhz more spectrum is going to be released in due course of time. So, spectrum should not be an issue, unlike in 2G - GPRS. 3G has the capacity to provide 28Mbps and even more. I think a 2-8Mbps connection should be sufficient for most internet purposes.I don't think our wireline backbone for wireless is good either. None of the private companies are offering a 512Kbps connection without FUP. Earlier when BSNL tried to launch Home 750 UL for wireiine BB customers, several places experienced slowness in network. Even my home's 512Kbps connection was operating at 400Kbps for sometime. First I think the wireline backbone should be improved.. Let the operators show the capacity to launch atleast an 2Mbps UL connection. Only then 3G can be fully utilized. Then we should think about 1Gbps 4G connection. :001unsure:

But MoD was never having a 200 Mhz capacity of spectrum, It was 60 Mhz as per official records, In early 2009, MoD was allowing only 10 Mhz, but later after several round of discussion , defence released 25 Mhz of 3G Spectrum and 20 Mhz of 2G spectrum. So, government approved the auction of four slots of 5 MHz in each circle. Regarding wire line backbone we all know its pathetic.
