u know what the most worryin part of this is?.. they r offerin it just for one year n then gonna make it go back to 256kbps.. as if to say.. they dont see the unlimited speeds increasing for another one year atleast!!!!

Have been getting speeds of around 500kbps on a 256UL plan for the past couple of hours. I'm in bangalore. Lets see how long this lasts.

i tried posting some articles. found it to be way too complicated! i should get used to it with time.

I'll try and get on it tomorrow night. We need to make a thread about this in the general section, more the people to help us out here the better.

You got numbers with backup sites to prove your post? 2 years here and there don't matter, fact is India is not as eager to win the broadband race as other countries are. I think you're going to have to stall your 'China started before India' ideology here. When did Broadband take off globally? 2000-2002? Its 2007 and it can hardly be seen in India, your excuse?[/b]
Oh yeah ? Can you backup your claim that china started at the same time as india ? 2 years make a lot of difference for all except a select few delusional like you. Just a year back we were using a shitty 64 kbps connection and now we are using 256 kbps. Hardly and difference is it ? meh.

Last I remember, I didn't say this :

tell me do you really believe that china could challenge America in such a short time ?
The article claims China surpasses USA in Broadband sector.[/b]
You still don't understand do you ? The fact that china has almost surpassed america in number of internet connections tells you that the foundation framework had been setup a long time back i.e chinese started working on broadband way before india which helped them get to where they are now.

I didn't quite get what excuse you were making up to support the fact broadband scene has been pathetic in India,

\"to have internet when you have local language and content on it ?\"
\"China had a huge advantage in the sense that there is only one language. About one-fifth of the world speaks some form of Chinese as their native language and that is an incredible statistic.\"

From the looks of it, you were blaming the fact India does not have that \"advantage in the sense that there is only one language\", the point I derailed in my previous post. Language is an irrelevant point, you can't blame the slow pace of Broadband in India on that.
Yet, China is economically better, is *much* richer, has some freakin' Broadband - If they can get all this to their public, then a little corruption here or there is excusable.[/b]
Language is an irrelevant point ? So you are telling me people who speak language other than english can still surf the internet ? Stop making up silly arguments. In china , yahoo is available in chinese language and it is just one of the zillion websites in china. As it is available in local language even a layman can understand and use it. They also have a huge number of local servers which is hardly found here. If gmail , hotmail etc were available in hindi , marathi ,bengali ,telgu etc a hell lot more people would use it. Tell me how many websites in india are available in local languages. The chinese were clever in the sense that they made internet user friendly which was very important. The speed upgradation happened after that.

Read this clearly, write this down if you want to : By the time India gets this broadband we want - The world would move into High Definition, and then, even 2mbps will be on HD streamers like what 256kbps is what now on youtube.

Now its about time you stop nitpicking points to counter in my post and rant for some immediate unlimited broadband because India can still save itself from the Broadband Crisis its in currently.[/b]
Stop putting words into my mouth and making up arguments around those. I never said the broadband scenario was justified but you made that up. They are just some of the obstacles in the path which need to be removed to go ahead. Secondly we have always been behind in accepting new technologies so a gap will always be there. When you rant about the internet you are just speaking about yourself and a few similar lot like you who just vent out their frustration on forums. Upgrading the speed and download limits is not going to solve this problem. People need to be educated about the internet and it's potential. Internet needs to be inculcated in the way government offices work. I never said that the government is innocent but you must accept that part of the problem lies with the majority of the people who still see internet as a thing one could live without.
