Hello Mahesh,

I think its available in your area as it is available in my area, but I want them to first give the connection then only I am going to pay any amount. I have a very very bad experience with Reliance, these sales persons takes the amount after that you have to get after them to get the connection done. It may take 20 days to 1 month for getting the connection with atleast 2 reminders per day. I also want to have a new internet connection. You can mail me ur mobile no. , so we can talk about it and together ask the sales person to give the connection first.

Regards,
Nishikant

Hi all, my name is Purushottam Kishen. I have been using ACT broadband for the past one month. From my experience, I can safely say that their service quality and work ethics is the most pathetic, horrible and downright obnoxious of any service experience I have had so far, and that includes a food poisoning I once had when I vomitted for a whole day after eating from a shady restaurant. Even government offices steeped in corruption give better service than this incompetent, incorrigible ISP called ACT.

Firslty their sales team extracted advance deposit from me in lieu of prompt connection, and I had to wait no sooner than 40 days to finally get a freaking line from their tightly wired boxes.

From the day I have started using which, hardly has a day passed without some connection problems or the other. On lucky days I was able to surf the whole evening, but the speed was downright pathetic. On a 1 mbps line, the best I got was 120 kbps. Calling their customer care 25 times finally brought some 'engineer' , who didnt know the difference between mbps and kbps. no kidding. He was under the impression I am getting more than promised. Anyhow, another series of querrying their customer care revealed that on 1 mbps line they give a max of 128 kbps. For 256 kbps I would have to take a 2mbps line. That's their official policy. But what sort of company makes cheating as their company policy...

Further I purchased wireless router from them and am still recovering from my blunder. When the net is working( which is now not so infrequent), the wireless speed drops close to 2 kbps which makes a mockery of wireless technology. Might be some problem with the settings their esteemed engineer couldnt configure. But the best part is for the past 7 days I have been calling them 3 times a day, still no one has shown up. Thier manager is out of bounds and their best closing statement is positive declaration of an engineer coming within the end of day. I wonder how many more days would end before I end my patience with them. Its only their setup cost of Rs 500 that's holding me back.

In the height of helplessness I am writing this post,, would register complaint with consumer forum/ TRAI help.

ANy help with other ISPs in bangalore near ashok nagar area...?

(Sorry forget reply with quote)
I know this is late, bumping up an old old post. But here goes:
ALL ISPs give 128KBPS for 1MBPS plan. When they say 1MBPS it is NOT 1MegaBYTE per second, instead is 1MegaBIT per second. Your PC shows in BYTES, so you will get 1/8th speed. You should always divide speed in advertisement by 8. This is common all round the world.

Hey Nishikant,

Over the weekend i got a SMS from ACT. It reads as " Hello! Thank you for your interest in the new 10 Mbps plan from ACT. We are currently not available in your area. We will notify you when available in your area " :-( . . . .

These People are just warming their Chairs... i called twice and they have not turned up yet.

@Mahesh

Sorry to know that, I am hopefully lucky to get the connection this weekend.

I just got my ACT connection activated this afternoon and wanted to share my experience with y'all. After the recent tariff hike from Airtel (:anger3:) I decided to give other ISPs a try, if only as a form of silent protest. I've been lurking on this thread for a while now and having read all the negative reviews here I was skeptical about ACT, but eventually decided to take the plunge last week.

Here's a rough timeline of events:-

[*] Friday, 10th August - Called CC for general inquiry (and to get an idea of what I was getting into!). Satisfied, I contacted ACT through their website to express interest.
[*] Saturday, 11th August -- Got a message asking me to keep documents ready. Their rep visited me that very evening and collected the stuff.
[*] Monday, 13th August -- Got a verification call
[*] Tuesday, 14th August - Got several calls from their reps who seemed eager to finish installation asap. Me being at work they couldn't complete the entire setup but said they'll 'come tomorrow'
[*] Thursday afternoon, 16th August -
Two of their technicians arrived and activated my account. Overall I was impressed with their conduct and technical know-who. The CC lady who did the final verification seemed confident and competent as well. Finally setup was done and speedtest revealed blazing fast speeds!
[*] Thursday evening, 16th August -
All of a sudden my internet stops working! :crying: Instantly recollecting the unfavorable reviews on this thread I thought to myself "WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO!", while glad at the same time that I'd planned to retain my Airtel connection for a month at least and not disconnect until I was convinced ACT was reliable.

I called their CC and all lines were busy. Luckily I managed to find an alternate CC number where they took my complaint. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call within 5 minutes saying someone was on the way! Within another 5 minutes their technician arrived and tinkered with the monstrous contraption they've installed outside my house and Lo behold, my net was back! :clapping:
[/list]
The Verdict: So far so good. Obviously I'll need to wait a bit longer to be sure.

I'll post updates on my experience at regular intervals. Moderator - would there be any objection to me creating a new thread for that purpose?

Thanks all for reading this looong post. :)

Those CC people say that it's there in my are, but again after register for connection, they say they are not available at my area.
Please ACT, come to Vidyaranyapura.
