It's been quite long since I wrote a follow up review of my Act Broadband Account. Have had a connection almost a year now. Every month there would come a time when the speed would go really low. And then there were times when it would just get disconnected and not work for two days (atleast). Now since Act Broadband is the most value for money product in the market,it seemed right to overlook some of these flaws. I mean we've all had an experience or two with disconnection and slow speeds or maybe even more. That's a part of broadband in India I guess,so I've made my peace with that. What really bothers me is that the time taken to fix the problem. Let me tell you now, whatever promises all these ISPs make about quality of service and more importantly after sales service, it's all a big lie. I've experienced it first hand now. Which brings me back to what I was saying earlier. On 29th October 2012, my Internet stopped working. I made a complaint the next day and was told that the problem would be solved soon. I went about doing my work as usual. Got a call from service engineer that day and he visited my place to check for the problem. God knows what he did but the problem did not fix and neither was he available on his phone anytime after. So I called the customer care again told them that the problem was not fixed yet. They gave me their regular ACT Broadband patented excuse, " Sorry for the inconvenience Sir, but there is a Fibre Cut in the area." Now I was tired of listening to this pathetic excuse over and over again. So I told them that they better fix this soon or I will cancel the connection. They said it will be resolved by 5 pm today. So I waited, again, and as soon I got home around 8 pm, I went to check the connection. And, as expected, still not working. Called again, same bloody excuse. And they had the audacity to close my complaint as well. Did not fix the problem, and closed the complaint.Which basically meant that whine all you want we will take our own sweet time to fix it. So I told him shove the connection where the sun don't shine, and cancelled my connection. The executive did little to persuade me to stay and gave me a ref. no for my cancellation, which to my surprise would happen in 24 hours. Not bad, but don't understand why this facility is not provided when it comes for fixing a problem. So as of tomorrow, I will be without an Internet connection. ( bad for me of course ) But I just couldn't take this bullshit anymore of ISPs taking customers for granted and treating us like shit. When the bill is generated, do they consider the fact that the Internet was not working for a certain numbers of days and that it would be right Tom give the customer a discount or rather to not charge the customer for the days on which the Internet was not working? When the time comes for payment, they start harassing you immediately and threaten disconnection if payment is not made. For them,it's a one way street in their favour. Well I say to hell with this attitude. There's already so much shit to deal with in our lives that this is another pain in the ass to deal with. My interest is not Woking and will be disconnected tomorrow in any case. How lucky Act Broadband must be feeling, that they are disconnecting a connection which is already disconnected. Way to go guys. Just goes to show the quality of ISPs we have here in India. I hope nobody else goes through what I've been through with ACT. Once again, this has proved what amateurs ACT are in this
business. They had the chance to be great and sweep the opposition but they got too stuck in God knows what and here we are today, giving them orders for deactivation as opposed to activation. Good night and god bless.
