I recently got an ACT connection in Frazer Town and so far so good. The plan I chose is 10Mbps upto 50GB and 512Kbps after that for Rs 1122 per month. Speed is as per the plan but on the lower side(get about 9-10 Mbps), would have been nice if it was between 10 -11Mbps. Latency is good(better than BSNL). I have left my BSNL connection as a safety net. I'll be checking the new connection for about 2 - 3 months just to be sure before disconnecting my BSNL connection.

Greedy? I think you have a misguided notion of reality. Its not like I'm getting the internet for free. I bloody well pay to get 10Mbps! So all I'm hoping is for the throttle to be at 10Mbps or above and not below.

here is something from the real world. trai regulation require isps to meet 80% of promised speeds all the time. and that too to their own servers and not an international server because anything outside their own servers is out of their control.

Please note that it is a regulation/guideline, not the rule of law. I and most people expect to get what they pay for. 10Mbps is the speed that is payed for and that is what I or anybody else expect to get. Simple logic. If you are happy with 80% then please be happy, just don't expect every one to share the same low standard. This thread is for posting reviews, so please stick to the theme and stop making pointless posts that derail the thread.

what i meant was that you cannot go to consumer court or any other authority because these companies are bound to provide just 80% of the promised speeds. you can expect anything. but i am just stating facts here. you want to ignore the obvious? good for you. you are not really entitled to anything that the government require these companies to provide you. good luck with that kind of attitude.

Hi ACTian,My name is Sathyanarayana.R and my Id is 10350734.My Compliant No's are:499908 and 481296..I have been having problems with internet since 22/09/12.Your service rep came very early i.e. on 24th evening and told me the customer is switching off the connection where the box is placed. And from then few days the connection would be there and some days it would go off.But since Sunday morning i.e 30/09/12 there is no internet connection and i have called the customer care to which they said we r searching for a new place to shift the box.On Tuesday morning i saw a similar box in my front house and the house owner said it was ACT and i could take the connection from here.God knows what the Hard Working service Reps searched.I called the customer care and informed them there is a box and they said they will come by afternoon.Since then i have called them 6-7 times and wasted my 2 days thinking that they might give a surprise visit. That's the great thing with ACT service Reps, the customer has to wait and be ready to waste a few days. Today i called Mr.Patil (8095551925)who gave me the no of Mr.Mallikarjun(9538863036) and Mr.Mallikarjun told it seems the person in my front house is not allowing him to take connection from there when the house owner himself has told me that i can take connection from his house.I called Mr.Mallikarjun who probably thinks he is the CEO of ACT who spoke rudely he gave it to other person and later cut the call.I again called him,he picked the call and didn't respond to me.And then i got fed up and called the customer service and told them to disconnect my service. They say they fill fix the issue within 4.00 P.M today which as expected hasn't happened.I am done with the callous, rude and lazy attitude of ACT and to my shock the customer rep says i have to call again(i.e waste more of my balance already 65 Rs counting...)and request them for waiver for the days i didn't have internet once the connection is done. God knows when i will get my connection back.If your extremely hard working service rep like cannot re-route the wire from front of my house then please cancel my account and reimburse my amount.I had posted once and the issue got resolved in 1 day and hope this issue gets resolved. To be honest I am really happy with the speed but you should seriously think of revamping your service reps with more dedicated ones..I am posting this from my mobile internet and hope the issue gets solved as soon as possible.

Hmm..Mr.ACTian is ACT available in Padmanabhanagar?BTW, I recently asked my TV cable operator about the "cutting off" of cables. It seems that its rampant in many areas(cable mafia lol:)), and due to heavy competition, there are these misdeeds done, just for revenge and stealing customers from other SP's.Also the cables are cut and stolen and are sold at good prices it seems. No wonder customers complain about bad connection and service, I mean how often would you tell your customer that the cable is broken? My suggestion is always to have a BSNL back up connection, explicitly to be used during emergencies and black outs.

It's been quite long since I wrote a follow up review of my Act Broadband Account. Have had a connection almost a year now. Every month there would come a time when the speed would go really low. And then there were times when it would just get disconnected and not work for two days (atleast). Now since Act Broadband is the most value for money product in the market,it seemed right to overlook some of these flaws. I mean we've all had an experience or two with disconnection and slow speeds or maybe even more. That's a part of broadband in India I guess,so I've made my peace with that. What really bothers me is that the time taken to fix the problem. Let me tell you now, whatever promises all these ISPs make about quality of service and more importantly after sales service, it's all a big lie. I've experienced it first hand now. Which brings me back to what I was saying earlier. On 29th October 2012, my Internet stopped working. I made a complaint the next day and was told that the problem would be solved soon. I went about doing my work as usual. Got a call from service engineer that day and he visited my place to check for the problem. God knows what he did but the problem did not fix and neither was he available on his phone anytime after. So I called the customer care again told them that the problem was not fixed yet. They gave me their regular ACT Broadband patented excuse, " Sorry for the inconvenience Sir, but there is a Fibre Cut in the area." Now I was tired of listening to this pathetic excuse over and over again. So I told them that they better fix this soon or I will cancel the connection. They said it will be resolved by 5 pm today. So I waited, again, and as soon I got home around 8 pm, I went to check the connection. And, as expected, still not working. Called again, same bloody excuse. And they had the audacity to close my complaint as well. Did not fix the problem, and closed the complaint.Which basically meant that whine all you want we will take our own sweet time to fix it. So I told him shove the connection where the sun don't shine, and cancelled my connection. The executive did little to persuade me to stay and gave me a ref. no for my cancellation, which to my surprise would happen in 24 hours. Not bad, but don't understand why this facility is not provided when it comes for fixing a problem. So as of tomorrow, I will be without an Internet connection. ( bad for me of course ) But I just couldn't take this bullshit anymore of ISPs taking customers for granted and treating us like shit. When the bill is generated, do they consider the fact that the Internet was not working for a certain numbers of days and that it would be right Tom give the customer a discount or rather to not charge the customer for the days on which the Internet was not working? When the time comes for payment, they start harassing you immediately and threaten disconnection if payment is not made. For them,it's a one way street in their favour. Well I say to hell with this attitude. There's already so much shit to deal with in our lives that this is another pain in the ass to deal with. My interest is not Woking and will be disconnected tomorrow in any case. How lucky Act Broadband must be feeling, that they are disconnecting a connection which is already disconnected. Way to go guys. Just goes to show the quality of ISPs we have here in India. I hope nobody else goes through what I've been through with ACT. Once again, this has proved what amateurs ACT are in this business. They had the chance to be great and sweep the opposition but they got too stuck in God knows what and here we are today, giving them orders for deactivation as opposed to activation. Good night and god bless.
