speeds in 3G is user dependent..even it may even come to 384kbps..as simultaneous user gets added up.
NOT like wireline as speed is restricted to a single home user

That is entirely untrue from a technology standpoint!

so private companies like airtel put a transfer cap....to maintain good speed for all users ..like 750 something

Ur right. Bcos, what ever may be the technology, if we assume the total Airtel wireless gateway B/W is 100%, this should be divided equally among all the customers. Obviously, more number of the 3g users will gives less data rates/user.
Now, my worry is at present the 3g customer base less and if it goes high in future then definitely we won't get these speeds (700 kbps) even.

Its the case now in USA, ask AT&T customers :).

3G bandwidth is very less compared to the subscribers in India, God knows what will happen some time down the line

Then wait for another 2 years for 4G,LTE....u will enjoy these services.
but u cannot make a call from a 4G handset its only for data........or the 4G technology does nt support calling services..one draw back

that may me because thay have not deployed 7.2 mbps ,14 mbps or 21 mbps..may be yet to be done. They might have restricted to 3.6mbps. 21mbps is just a ad from airtel...just to show that they are equivalent to DOCOMO.

HSPA + can support not till 21mbps it can even be made to achieve till 42,84 mbps .service provider have to go for these speeds to maintain good speeds for this population. If the user is high..
will it happen??????????????? or they will jump to 4G

ther is one thing u can do to retain your number ....first submit your address proof to airtel show room so u r changing u r address from ur friend name to yours.but they will ask u some quiz question like on which name it was earlier ...after a wk it will be updated in ur name and then send a porting request...............u have to wait for a wk that s allllll...............

Pls check with Airtel before you make the name change.. Normally when you make a name change, the same is considered as a new connection; reason being your account number and other stuffs gets changed in Airtel. And now per the MNP policy a porting is not allowed within 3 months of new connection.. So you might get locked up.. so better check before you do that either

Since last Saturday I have been using Airtel 3G and I am happy with the quality of service - I use it to surf and check emails and stream facebook and youtube videos. It does'nt make me wait endlessly to load webpages. For my downloading needs I have unlimited 2Mbps broadband at home.

Wait, what??? The WHOLE friking AIRTEL 3G network only consumes 200 GB per day?If we assume that a webpage or email constitutes 100kb, that computes to no more than 5000 people on the whole Airtel 3G network??!!Dumb PR!
