Hi I am new user to this forum. And today only I activated my Airtel 3G service. I am not at all crossing more than 700 kbps download speed, even my mobile (Nokia 5230) is showing full signal strength. I am from chennai. Does this problem is facing me alone or some one else there (from chennai) with this trouble. Plz let me know.:thumb:

As 3G is just launched, speeds may vary irrespective of signal strengths. I used to get the same speed for the first 2-3 days and from then on its around 1.6 Mbps.

Better i will change my number.
ther is one thing u can do to retain your number ....first submit your address proof to airtel show room so u r changing u r address from ur friend name to yours.but they will ask u some quiz question like on which name it was earlier ...after a wk it will be updated in ur name and then send a porting request...............u have to wait for a wk that s allllll...............

speeds in 3G is user dependent..even it may even come to 384kbps..as simultaneous user gets added up.
NOT like wireline as speed is restricted to a single home user
3G is not a substitute for u r broadband.....for this indian population
so private companies like airtel put a transfer cap....to maintain good speed for all users ..like 750 something
