^^I'm speechless. Airtel has worked super hard to design plans so that only Sunil Mittal and his family can afford it. Congrats to them!Actually, they could have added more terms like:1. Free data MB is not applicable when travelling in Buses/Cars/Trains.2. 3G connection will be deactivated if the customer uses more than 1mb continuously. (Read "Fair usage Policy")3. You need to maintain atleast Rs.5000 talktime in your account to activate 3G.4. Customer needs to show their last 5 years Swiss bank account statements to apply for a post paid connection.and so on...! :P

looks like Airtel is in shopping mood again  thats why they are looking to fill there pockets as early as possible for buying some other telecom company in some other country :P

So those who do have to roam frequently, better top - up their a/c with some 10,000 or 1 lakh rupees in one go :( if want to have uninterrupted usage

:@ u made me spill hot coffee coz i laughed so hard :P but it did wake me up completly :P

3G speed at Bangalore...

The problem with Airtel 3G plan is not just the package cost, but the roaming costs. Most of us tend to use data the most while we travel (emails, maps, etc). The roaming charges are 30p/20Kb which is atrocious by any standards. This puts data services on par with Gold. I'd switched to Airtel from Vodafone just because of the impending 3G launch and I am thoroughly disappointed with this pricing. I am ok with the package but not with the roaming charges. In fact it costs Airtel not a penny more to let their users roam nationwide on their network. Yet, they have this atrocious pricing.

I think the people who are unhappy with the tariffs are those who use their phones as their main internet device. There is also a wide section of people who have other ways of access at home/work and for these people, the plans are not that bad. In my case, I signed up for the 250 MB plan for 200 rupees. Considering that until i shifted to Airtel a few months ago, I was paying Vodafone 250 rupees for 100 MB download, I think that is quite a bargain. Sure, I was getting 2 GB of 2G for 98 rupees earlier, but in reality, I was never using more than 100 MB a month, so 250 MB should be more than enough. Also, I hear that they will send a SMS when 80% of your download limit is reached, so that will help control the bill. Ideally, I would have liked some kind of top up option for when I exceed the limit rather than have an unlimited bill, maybe that will come later.

So data roaming has also started now, the Airtel 2G data charges were not affected by roaming. In fact no roaming charges was one of the reasons I got the Rs 98 for 2GB plan since I use the internet a lot more when I'm away from home and have no access to a PC.Guess most of us will have to wait a couple of years before getting affordable 3G data plans.
