Disappointing, but not unexpected. Sunil Mittal had stated after the auction that the service wasn't going to come cheap, and that definitely looks the case. Need more clarity on the overusage charges. If its 10p/MB after the 1.25 GB limit, then why the high pricing of 50p/MB for the first 1.25GB?

and i believe there has been no clarification on roaming (considering the network is not even supposed to be alive outside bangalore right now. :D )

lol lol i dont know how to say this but a friends kid brother john has decided to go for airtel 3g and broadband. When his bro asked why? he said airtel has the best ads and theme song :hysterical: He also loves the cute puppy :hysterical: Luckily his bro and dad have better knowledge and have applied for the bsnl 3g i guess john thinks that airtel is like the puppy :P loyal and would follow him everywhere and wont bite :hysterical:

anyhow. looks like i would be MNPing away from airtel to vodafone or reliance (OMG).

Wow, Airtel fanboys thinking about moving to Reliance :)

Seriously, if you have proper signal in your home/office, you will not regret. I frequently use Reliance GSM for ISD calls to US and voice quality is best among all networks with almost no lag. So, that is other benefit. I use Nokia N95, so quality of handset may be helping too.

Vodafone will also launch at prices similar to Airtel. Vodafone is typically costliest in the market. So Reliance or BSNL/MTNL is the only viable choice for now.

Airtel will always provide better 3G service than BSNL because hardly anyone in right state of mind will like to use it for large downloads. So there will be no network congestion. :cool2:

@dhananjayk - I am getting 3mbps with two bars!!! That is still fantastic compared to BSNL. Its double their speed with same signal strength.

Wait till you get hit by the bill. You do realize that you are paying like Rs 10 for each speedtest? :O

guys i am using Nokia N8 and also activated 3G in bangalore. some time back i had recieved the mailer from airtel saying that 2GB free data will be given for 6 months once 3G is live, for activation i just need to enter the sim card into N8. now after calling cust care several times they are not able to confirm the same or else giving the false info. msgs recieved after activation says your free data packs if any has been disabled and pay per use model is activated. friend pls suggest how should i confirm if i am activated with 2GB free data pack

Now that Mittal has launched his 3G services in Karnataka how does he expect anybody to subscribe for it unless it is cheaper that BSNL ? Now that Mobile Number Portability has become a reality would not Airtel customers who are interested in 3G services switch to BSNL? I do not understand the logic in Airtel 3G services being more costly than BSNL

hehe ok. airtel.in i think still has no details. their PR had no details. the company is still playing mind games. :D

They have custom plans for quitters LOL

@Chetan,
Even I had 2GB promotional offer enabled on my mobile and every customer care executive said it is valid for only 2G data and not 3G... So I lost that offer when I enabled 3G. Now, I am on Rs103 100MB plan...
