and yeah one more thing, incoming connections wont work with vpn... at least thats whats happening with my torrents.

heh. i am trying to download a torrent that has enough seeders. and i am not getting speeds higher than 30/40KBps and i am on a 1mbps line.

that's a free VPN service , it would have many users on one server maybe even 50 !! it just meant to unlock hulu, remove regional restrictions on content from sites, like you can watch bbc's player from u.k servers , this is not meant for p2p , incoming won't work since RPF is disabled on vpn's even some paid ones , opens the server to remote hacks . to bypass this throttling you would have to go paid. i think airtel has shot itself in the foot by claiming in writing to various customers that they don't shape traffic , where as this proves that they do , now if someone wants to make a formal complaint in a consumer court or even to TRAI , airtlel customers have a very valid ground now, but we guys have a very bad habit of getting tamed easily.

99% of torrents we use and files which we download using torrents is not legal, so you can not drag Airtel for something which is already illegal, Airtel is not shaping traffic for http download and browsing. If you drag Airtel in court and they put your connection log in court with all illegal/ warez stuff being downloaded, you will be hanged and Airtel will be very happy to see such cases in court ...

So basically we can not raise voice against such traffic shaping unless what we doing is 100% legal...

Clap for airtel, given us a FUP lollipop of 75GB and 150GB and has taken away torrent downloads :iclap:

Frankly speaking, personally, I am very happy with this move of airtel, now I can do many thing with at a very fast speed which used to take me 4-5 hours, I don't care for torrents.. I don't mind if a DVD rip get 8 hours to download, but what I am seeing I will finish my other work very fast and I can shut down my computer instead of keep it running for hours to do the same work... This will ultimately saves a lot of time and energy of mine...

And Yes I have upgraded to 150Gb plan even though I know that I will not be able to download much of torrents....

Great plans from Airtel, however I am sure still 90% of users who were not happy with Airtel's bad FUP limit's are still not happy but I now don't belong to unhappy customers of Airtel...

Good for u but not for p2p users :p , next time airtel will block google too for stopping pirated search and then u can be more happy with ur 150GB!
