Update:So at 11:30 p.m. I restarted my computer and modem and tried downloading the same torrent again. Speed this time: 512 kbps+I'm not sure how to react. I feel ripped off that I can't download torrents in the afternoon. On the other hand, holy crap 512 kbps d/l!

telling you. you would get used to it. the only problem is wastage of power during night time. 75GB is easily consumable at 500KBps. :) it is better than 24x7 throttling.

i doubt mtnl has sane 4mbps plans. the best they had from what i remember was 1000 rupee 1mbps. is it still available?

Yup, that and 2mbps at 1899, followed by 4mbps at 3499. ;)I'm not sure whether they offer a 4mbps fup based plan.

Why don't you get mtnl ? Unless of course its terrible at your place :P

I've had horrible experience with them in the past. I used them for two years, during which, my modem had to be replaced four times, and collectively, I was out of internet access for at least 2 months, once more than 15 days at a stretch.

All my work is online and I can't risk something like that happening again. Which is why I even bought a Tata Photon+ for backup internet.
