Maybe Also you having encryption "on"

Yes they are, uncapping after 12:00 and uTP is still blocked ,try it yourself enabling uTP:Confuzzled:

for me utp always seemed to ruin my download speed so i have it disabled since the time they made it available...and yeah i do have encryption set to on but i dont think its having any effect with airtel, however i will check.

Last week downloaded about 8 GB in 1 night and yesterday it downloaded 1 GB in entire night... so definitely not getting same speeds at night. Have checked all settings, but no luck.. DAMN Airtel !!!

After changing my plan to 4mbps, today is the first day I'm getting around 500kb/s on torrents. Earlier it barely touched 100kb/s throughout the day. So, its really confusing, when they throttle speeds and when they let it rip remains a mystery :mml:

in my own experience of using 2mbps this month, airtel gives me 1mbps on torrents (legit or not) during the day time. i get 2mbps on torrents at nighttime.

If they establish a pattern of throttling, people will be able to take them to consumer court,etc..This way they can say it happens due to external conditions.

and what would you challenge them for? managing their network to prevent congestion? there are now laws related to network neutrality in india. trai has already said that they do not receive enough complaints to make it an issue.

They are required to deliver 80% of the promised speed.. throttling violates that doesnt it?

they are required to deliver 80% of the promised speeds from their own servers. they cannot promise delivery from external servers/services. that's why every ISP makes a clear statement... the speeds promised are from our own servers.

for the first 20 days of my connection ,torrent throttling was going on even during the night. i called airtel and asked them to give it in written that they are throttling torrents after some senior airtel official told me so on phone . since that time , i haven't had the throttling issue even during day .i get 450-500 kBps on nearly every torrent . downloaded about 180 gb from torrents in last 10 days . i din even get fup'ed last month even though i downloaded 250+ gb in my 1st 20 days . i'm not even getting fup'ed although i'm on a 150gb 4mbps plan . although my neighbour just got fup'ed but no torrent throttling on his connection too .airtel.in shows my usage as 50gb for lst month instead of 250+ and shows 41 gb for this month (from 11th july to 22nd july) instead of 180gb . i guess 150 gb plan is pretty much an unlimited plan if you're lucky . i haven't recieved anything in written from them about throttling though but as it is not happening now , i guess i won't have to ask now . i left airtel 1 year back coz of FUP but switched back to it as reliance has strted to disconnect every 2 hours for 5-10 secs and i used to drop out of lots of games .

Okay, so that speed was short lived. Exactly at 00:00, It got throttled back to 100kb/s. @ Above guy, What exactly did you tell them? I'm thinking of doing the same. There's no use paying so much if you are only getting a 5th of the speed.
