Airtel Broadband blocking torrents and file sharing services

duh. the court order was obtained by reliance.

got a call from airtel. they just received the court order and that is why the sites are now blocked on airtel.

i have asked them to send me a copy of the order. might get it in a couple of hours. might not.

i was told that the order contained the list of sites to be blocked. i asked to send me what they can after hiding the part that they cannot reveal.


They shouldn't have to redact any part of the order unless a private communication is attached to it. Since it is just an order it won't be long (like a judgement).

Dailymotion, vimeo, and all the torrent sites I frequently use are working fine for me.

is it the same as the older 'john doe' orders which never mentioned any site to be blocked ? and ppl plzzzzzzzzzzzzz don't use TOR for p2p it was never meant for that , just get on the site grab whatever link you want and disconnect and remember bad things happen on tor so use it carefully , in short TOR exit nodes are misused so be careful.

John Doe order to block sites

I do not even see a list of sites in this order.

no list, as is the case with every ashok kumar order, the court hasn't told them to block any website, the ISP's are only told to prevent distribution of "3" , apparently they have no other way of doing it rather than blocking whole websites that are used for genuine purposes as well, the way the ISP's deal with this needs to be brought to the attention of the court.

yeah though as much so the order is is being 'mis used' and can be challenged. but it won't happen and is the sad sate of affairs in this country.

he claims on his twitter feed that they gave specific URLs to block but ISPs blocked entire domains so it is not their fault. Retweet and share the hate!

It is a simple case of a blanket court order being willfully misinterpreted. Someone needs to bring this to the attention of the very judge who passed the order. Other ISPs are an a$$ if they blocked the entire websites instead of blocking specific urls.
