right. i got my modems replaced when they stopped working so there was no question of proving to them that there was a problem. :D

the dude did ask me to restart the modem and other usual stuff. i told him specifically that all the four lights on the modem are ON. there is no PING. it has simply stopped working.

a dude arrived at my place saw the modem accepted that it had died replaced it configured it. and i was back online.

it sucked more for me considering my TV was dead too because of the fried modem.

exactly, this is what the woman from the technical department told me, if there is a problem with the functioning of my modem, it shall be replaced by airtel otherwise i would have to pay a thousand rupees to get it replaced. this is where i got very angry and threatened to terminate and move to other service provider and it worked :D...so far working good. by the way do you have 450 tc1? and I was told by the representative in 121 that they have Linksys modem too which they denied later?. confusing

I am glad breakyo that by changing the modem the problem was solved, I just dont understand why these ISP first dont try to change a simple thing like modem rather than change all the lines etc.......... doing the hard way and causing problems for everyone, I have a major problem with reliance for several months and was solved by changing the modem. Also with airtel after 2 years of usage the connection was dropping a lot only for a few minutes though a tech came I convince him to test it with a spare modem he had and the problem was solved, I think so these ADSL modem crank out after a couple of years of service just touch them and see how hot they run and if you are running them 24x7 then there is a high possibility of problems after a couple of years.

Yeah! what a relief it was for me! I was connected to two chat rooms for 12 hours continuously yesterday and not a single disconnection.:cool2: hope it continues this way. I run the modem for more than 15 hours a day, so i guess overheating was causing the disconnections? and if it was I wonder why it caused disconnections only in chat rooms. Anyway, finally after more than 2 months of struggle the problem has been solved. the snr margin in the new modem (beetel 450 tc1) is outstanding.. more than 35 and the attenuation rate is excellent 25-26. the old modem ( beetel 450 bx1) had snr of 18-25 and attenuation rate of more than 35.
