Finally got my speed upgraded to 2Mbps after 20 days and a lot of ticket, I am on the Rs 1699 plan
Hi dragonball, yes it applies everywhere in India. They don't want a sudden flood, so they are claiming that +100 is being offered only to selected subscribers and within certain distance from telephone exchange, blah. But anyone can take it. In case your area CC guys can't help, then do this:
Send an SMS to 53636 saying just one word (without inverted comas) - "DELIGHT"
Within 3 days, somebody from Airtel will call you to confirm that you want this upgrade activated and explain its details (you prolly know more details than them, at this point
).
Then your double-speed will be claimed to start within 7 WORKING days. But give it 2 weeks actually.
But somebody on this forum talked about a Rs. 649 plan for 512Kbps UL - https://broadband.forum/airtel-broadband/58169-airtel-unlimited-512-kpbs-649-only/
If that scheme is open to you, do let us all know what you had to do to get it, and how soon it got activated.

Two weeks back I made a request and there was no response from them. I got spammed by Airtel again today with the double your speed offer.I think they got it automated......I downloaded about 5GB of software last night with Speed on Demand enabled and then I got this email from them.

I think he is referring to the 499 1mbps/256kbps unlimited plan available only in select cities. It has a Fair Usage Policy of 5GB after which the speed drops down to 256kbps for the rest of the billing cycle. Tried my darndest to get this plan in Delhi but no dice.

That is the only reaction possible upon first seeing the details of the plan, and after reading that other thread you linked to. (no offense targeted at you)
5GB? Dang man, that will finish in half a day! LOL
They might as well sell it labeled as a 256k UL package which is what it seems to be.
