Yes, upload speed is 256kbps right now, which I think is choking the connection.. I'll wait till my plan is changed to 1mbps and then see! In the mean time, have canceled disconnecting Airtel, cause if in the worst case I have to go back to them, I wanna make sure its my current plan, and not the 256kbps shit plans that they have now!
AFAIK, your upload speed will remain 256 kbps even after you change to the 1 mbps plan. Call 1503 and confirm it.

hey.. just did a speedtest and got this result!!! i'm on 1099 1mbps plan... anyone else getting speed boost??

Ok, MTNL's plan is now changed to 1mbps one.. But still getting the same 150 odd kbps upload speed :(Now what to do?

Are you sure it's 150kbit/s and not 150kbyte/s?BTW this thread is about Airtel Broadband :D

Hey Guys,

I was going through the Airtel FAQ on FUP (Airtel Broadband : FAQ for FUP). I am slightly confused about how it applies to my plan. I am an old subscriber on original 1Mbps@1699 plan. I believe this plan got upgraded to 2 Mbps sometime last year.

The relevant section of FAQ is:

my speed has recently doubled? Are there any extra charges?

If you were an airtel subscriber on with a data plan of upto 2 Mbps, you will find that airtel upgraded your speed at no extra cost. Download limits were set based on your existing plan. When you cross your data transfer limit, your speed will reduce to the level you were on prior to the upgrade.
A quick synopsis of Speed Upgrade program:
• All customers to get a minimum speed of 512 Kbps
• Customers on 512 Kbps were upgrapxded to 1 Mbps for the first 25 GBs of usage.
• Customers on 1 Mbps were upgraded to 2 Mbps for the first 30 GBs of usage
• Once you reach FUP levels, your broadband speed goes back to your original pre-upgraded speed. Also, there is no further data transfer limits. Your data transfer continues to be unlimited as it always was.

Code:
Pre-upgrade Speed 64 Kbps 128 Kbps 256 Kbps 384 Kbps 512 Kbps 1 MbpsF U P/ DL limit NA NA NA 75 GB 100 GB 100 GBSpeed post F U P 64 Kbps 128 Kbps 256 Kbps 256 Kbps 256 Kbps 512 KbpsUpgraded Speed 512 Kbps 512 Kbps 512 Kbps 512 Kbps 1 Mbps 2 MbpsF U P/ DL limit 5 GB 5 GB 10 GB 20 GB 25 GB 30 GBSpeed post F U P 64 Kbps 128 Kbps 256 Kbps 384 Kbps 512 Kbps 1 Mbps

Now according to this FAQ, my original speed was 1Mbps, so I should get first 30GB of transfer at 2Mbps, then next 100GB (or is it 70GB over first 30GB?) at 1 Mbps and post 130GB (or 100GB), speeds at 512kbps. Is my understanding correct?

What I have noticed is that my monthly consumption is at 50-70GB. But I never get the speeds mentioned in the FAQ. I start getting these Airtel error pages (http://122.160.230.125:8080/vta/redirectedPage.do)during the first week of a billing cycle itself. And the pages never show any usage data, it just keeps getting reloaded :@

Also I primarily use this connection for online games like World of Warcraft and League of Legends, and I always get a very high latency on these games. In short I am getting fed up with Airtel.

What are valid ISP alternatives in Delhi which offer genuine unlimited 1Mbps+ connections? I am in East Delhi.

Thanks,
StillWaters

I can't vouch for them personally, but your best bet as far as I'm aware is Spectranet.
