i am saying it once again. test your download speeds by downloading ubuntu i386 torrent. :)

They have removed some Ul plans for TN as well, but they have some good plans for users like me (who don't download too many torrents :P), who don't download that much. 2mbps with 15 gb for 1199 is not that bad.

Dont blame Airtel..... blame it on the stupid torrent downloaders.
care to elaborate on that? what makes a torrent downloader so stupid?

If everyone in this world had that same attitude we'd be getting NOWHERE as far as broadband speeds are concerned. I'm on 1mbps UL plan in B'lore and I was pissed to see those new plans. I was hoping for a 2 mbps UL plan, but instead they remove most of the UL plans. If I could jump the boat, I would but unfortunately the only alternative is BSNL which is even worse. So I guess we're all stuck with Airtel and their crappy plans.

hey if an isp is providing internet service it has to provide all the services like http, ftp, torrent as neutral.THere is a big debate going in USA about net neutrality. The isp's say that torrent consumes majority of their net traffic so they slow it down and this led to legal cases where isp's were found guilty. In India the broadband pop is 3-4 million and in USA its more than 50%.If air tel is removing plans cuz of torrents then this speaks up for the infrastructure our isps have.

there is nothing wrong in dl'ing torrents as long you are d'ling legal stuff, saying torrents illegal is like saying google is illegal as it provides xxx content.

Live with that, catch the up loaders who upload the copyright torrent, dont shut the system down as an excuse.

i am hoping airtel would revise the prices of 512k and 1mbps plans this year. they are due for a price update!

Have they really removed UL plans???

LOL, maybe this is the new year surprise from Airtel posted by warthog: https://broadband.forum/airtel-broadband/39675-airtel-new-year-suprise/

Now surely BSNL etc will follow suit in taking India further backwards
yeah typical it happens only in india:frown:

called CC and they removed 799 and 999 UL

HAHA no 384k by airtel.it was the only isp which provided this speed.

o well cant wait for railwire

The problem is the infrastructure was never developed to handle such traffic (torrent or whatever) Even when I call a Airtel mobile number it gets cut off exactly after 60 minutes. The infrastructure is not capable of handling such requirements and it is not just Airtel which has such a problem. It would be too expensive for even the best ISPs in the world in USA or any rich country to provide such an infrastructure.

The other end of problem is the demand is always on the increase. Eight-ten years back users were happy if a email could be downloaded easily on a 56k dialup, few years back they would be happy to see a media file streamed without breaks....today they are not happy though they got a lot more than what they did before because they want more. Give me 100mbps fibre connection and I will start downloading 100 media files simutaneously. What do I care....I got unlimited plan...hardrive is cheap...and I want cheap entertainment. And I wont stop at that....I will hook up a router and connect up all my family members / co-occupants in my house and let them also download all they want....its unlimited, its cheap, its as good as free

unlimited plans are for unlimited download and upload... Not for torrent or any classification as such.. Even torrent also keeps sending and recieving data.. When other countries can provide why not india... USA torrents are still working.. So dont say airtel made that an issue...Its just money ... Thats all....
