hey if an isp is providing internet service it has to provide all the services like http, ftp, torrent as neutral.THere is a big debate going in USA about net neutrality. The isp's say that torrent consumes majority of their net traffic so they slow it down and this led to legal cases where isp's were found guilty. In India the broadband pop is 3-4 million and in USA its more than 50%.If air tel is removing plans cuz of torrents then this speaks up for the infrastructure our isps have.
there is nothing wrong in dl'ing torrents as long you are d'ling legal stuff, saying torrents illegal is like saying
google is illegal as it provides xxx content.
Live with that, catch the up loaders who upload the copyright torrent, dont shut the system down as an excuse.
The problem is the infrastructure was never developed to handle such traffic (torrent or whatever) Even when I call a Airtel mobile number it gets cut off exactly after 60 minutes. The infrastructure is not capable of handling such requirements and it is not just Airtel which has such a problem. It would be too expensive for even the best ISPs in the world in USA or any rich country to provide such an infrastructure.
The other end of problem is the demand is always on the increase. Eight-ten years back users were happy if a email could be downloaded easily on a 56k dialup, few years back they would be happy to see a media file streamed without breaks....today they are not happy though they got a lot more than what they did before because they want more. Give me 100mbps fibre connection and I will start downloading 100 media files simutaneously. What do I care....I got unlimited plan...hardrive is cheap...and I want cheap entertainment. And I wont stop at that....I will hook up a
router and connect up all my family members / co-occupants in my house and let them also download all they want....its unlimited, its cheap, its as good as free
