- Airtel customer care has gone to the dogs - my recent experiences with them make me believe that they are one of the bottom 5 quality of CC in my whole life of experiencing customer care in everywhere I have lived in the world - UK, US, Singapore and Dubai

That the Airtel customer care has gone to dogs is a news to me. Their customer support was always as bad as it is now a days.

If you are comparing the Airtel CC to the support offered by companies in US, UK or Singapore then it is your mistake once again because you are comparing a donkey to a Toyota Prius.

I think only the geeks/heavy users are affected by this so called Fair Usage Policy. The reason I'm saying this is that uncle-aunty types are more than satisfied with 20GB-25GB Fair Usage Policy.

I am "uncle-aunty types" but I am not satisfied with the 20-25GB FUP, at least not at the prices they charge. :)

Update: I'm gonna give a disconnection request today. Got Fair Usage Policy'ed badly and even the nodal team has given up. They expect me to pay 1099 INR + taxes per month for 512 Kbps Unlimited. They're stubborn on this and I got call backs from 3 senior airtel executives saying I'll have to live with 512 Kbps. This is what I get after being a loyal airtel broadband customer for 2+ years.**** airtel.Reliance broadband, here I come. I'll opt for Reliance's 1Mbps-1099 tariff plan. Initially, I had decided to go for BSNL 3G but I trust Reliance more than BSNL. I'll not use any BSNL service ever even if it's offered to me for free. :|

I already had an MTNL line at home and I called them up today to hook me up with a 1mpbs UL plan (for Rs 999). Will test out their service and Reliance's fixed line broadband as well but the process to kick Airtel out of my house has started. And once Hayai, comes in - I would want to be one of the first people to check that out.For all other people who think that switching may be tough - in Delhi, MTNL is not charging anything much for new users. Most of their installation charges and security deposits are waived off. Reliance shouldn't be any different. Just call them up and have them install to try other ISPs. Like I said, vote with your wallet and let Airtel feel the pinch. If we are not their target customer base then why be in a lose-lose situation!Year 2011 and FUP limit of 25 GB - an absolutely moronic thought! Can't curse them enough!

The Email that I sent last night to airtel:

Hi,

Barely couple of months ago, I had faced exactly the same problem and here we
are again... since yesterday, my airtel broadband's FUP (Fair Usage Policy)
has been changed without my consent.

Original tariff plan that was promised to me (after speed upgrade):
Day: 1 Mbps till 20GB; 512 Kbps Unlimited thereafter.
Night: 1 Mbps Unlimited (NO Fair Usage Policy during the night).

I did get the above mentioned speeds for last couple of months, but since last
4-5 days, Im getting 512 Kbps during the day as well as night. This is unfair.
Im not gonna pay Rs. 1099 + taxes just to get 512 Kbps speed. I want my
original speed (that was promised to me) back. Call me on +91XXXXXXXXXX if you
need any more info.

I have already Emailed and called the nodal officers dept. but looks like
theyre not at all interested in fixing my problem. I've been allotted
complaint nos. 50384 and 50385 but nothing has been done till date. Ive been a
loyal airtel broadband customer for 2+ years and the way airtel is currently
treating me is unbelievable. Ive totally lost my patience and thus, Ive
decided to quit airtel broadband.

Reliance broadband is offering me 1 Mbps 24*7 with NO FUP for Rs. 1099 + taxes.
If Reliance can offer it, why cant airtel? Maybe airtel is too greedy for
profits. Give me one good reason to stick with airtel broadband. You people
also might wanna note that there are ~125 flats in our society. Among these
~125 flats, only ours has a airtel broadband connection. No wonder no one
subscribes to airtel broadband! airtel needs to get its act together.

Disconnect my airtel broadband connection as soon as possible as Im done with
this unFair Usage Policy. I cant take this anymore.

I feel by now they must have prepared & circulated a draft of this letter, with date & personal details to be filled later, as the usage of this letter must have gone really high these days. So many peoples are kicking them out that these days, in some days there CCEs will have only one job left(filling the details in this type of draft) if they soon doesn't come up with better FUPs.Their executives might be really happy by saving those 50-100 gbs (i.e. by lowering the limits from 100-200 Gb) which some 2-5 % of users might have downloaded, but they clearly doesn't understand the power of social media as marketing(good/bad). Not only that they are loosing the existing customer base but most of all they are loosing their prospective customers too heavily.
