well they use insat 4cr and according to the airtel installation guy they have 6 transponders, but the STB shows it has 7 transponders, also the reason why lyngsat doesnt show the information is that they will need a new equipment to read DVB S 2 signals, and the installation team didnt even have the db meter to check the signal,so they had to do it the hard way by speaking to the second person of the intallation team via phone who was near the STB which is was connected to my tv.when i asked them about the lack of equippment to check the signal they said they are yet to recieve it and the db meter costs 8k. the sattelite faces SouthWest at approximately 220 degrees.

well like i said u will need a totally new equipment to find out the details which i presume lyngsat does not have them or since the signal coverage is on india may be their local peope who test and give information to lyngsat dont have the equipment.

adder is right. As stated by airtel the signal broad casted is using DVB-S2 unless and until you have a S2 enabled receiver you wont be able to see the channels. Satcodx (Autoscan thiruvananthapuram)and lyngsat doesn't have a s2 facility and therefore we don't see the channels listed.. I'm guessing that the signal is being broad casted through INSAT-4CR.. I'm waiting for a my DVB-S2 card to arrive. Once i receive that i will advise you about it..

also guys according to the installation engineer they are currently testing a second STB which is same as Tata Sky but with mpeg4 and DVDb s2 standards,he said the new one is cheaper and will not come with a univerasal remote, and in his opinion he said the build quality is inferior to the current stb.
