Airtel IPTV being launched 1st of january......2 plans that i know of.....1299 ---- 147 channels ----- 256 kbps UL1499 ---- 200 channels ----- 384 kbps UL:thumbsup:

But these are costly plans. I am using 256 unlimited which costs me 800+tax. And BigTV which cost 165+tax. If I go for IPTV, I will have to shed more money for this.

256kbps
384kbps

????????????

At this speed they will not able to provide iptv.........at least
2mbps is required for true digital experience.

384 kbps is worse than even SD , MTNL provides a 6 mbps link for IPTV , i think what it means that if you have that connection you have to pay the corresponding amount

Q1 Why is Airtel waiting so long? We all know that beta testing started in Gurgaon like 2 years ago.

Q2 What do you mean by it will take 2-3 months for confirmation? Will it launch in 2-3 months, or will you only have an idea in 2-3 months?

Q3 What are some of the features Airtel plans to have with IPTV that will set it apart from DTH?

Q1
Ans: Airtel is doing testing from last 2 years as you know, they are contineously improving the services. Airtel is looking gor the perfect time.

Q2

Is there any kind of discounts available for people who are working with Bharati?

3 plans that i know of.....

1249 ---- 145 channels ----- 256 kbps UL

1499 ---- 145 channels ----- 512 kbps UL

1499 ---- 145 channels ----- 2 mbps (6GB download)

384 kbps is bandwidth for non-iptv traffic and for iptv they can have max 8 mbps and this cannot be used for data traffic. They might be using different port for IPTV to differentiate between the services.

Anyways all these plans looks costly. There should be clear value differentiator, otherwise hardly few will opt for this even in the metros.

Does this mean that for Rs. 1499 (+tax) a month, I would get a 512Kbps UL connection AND IPTV (with 145 channels)?

I ask because 512 Kbps UL already costs Rs. 1499, so this makes it sound like IPTV would be free for 1499 customers.:S Is that correct?
