@Smallship I'm on 100 mbps plan in Chennai. I was getting consistently 120-122 mbps till last 4-5 days. Now I'm getting around 99-103 mbps. Upload speed is dropping below 100 mbps while download speed is above 100 most of the times. Sometimes, upload speed is fluctuating between 80-100 mbps. YouTube is buffering. Browsing websites is not smooth like it was before. Loading time takes a little. I'm browsing this site on airtel fiber now. The site takes a little time to load the content. I have no idea what's happening. I was wondering if they have messed up something in the backend or something else.
Two months back, I had an issue with connection like suddenly the speed was going above 300 mbps on my 100 mbps plan and fluctuating heavily between 200-350 mbps and also had frequent disconnections. I reported to them and then I got a call from backend engineer who was doing something with my router settings from his side to check if it resolves but it was not working. He said he also disabled IPv6 as it is not needed in India or something like that he said. I didn't give much attention to that. The next day, a technician called and asked me to check if the connection works good. The issue was resolved. I asked him what was the issue. He said there was some team in my region who messed up some connections which made it unstable like doubling the speed and frequent disconnections.
Now after two months, I have this speed capping thing going on. I'm fine with their advertised speed. I'm not greedy about their extra speeds. But the issue is it doesn't feel like a real fiber connection. I feel like browsing on some 3G or 4G connection. It's fluctuating much. When I download something, the speed fluctuates like 7, 9, 6, 10, 13, 11, 6, 5, 9, 12, 11, 10, 8, 5, 10, 12 and rarely touches 12 mbps. Earlier I used to get 14 mbps on average and no fluctuations at all.
