The thing is that at least on their tariff's page they have indicated it to be a top-up plan, i.e. requiring you to subscribe to a landline too.......

Hey Sushubh, have you switched yet?

Well when i called up the CC they told that in a day or two they would update the site with new details and plans.

There is a new option not to have telephone rental but they would provide DSL on telephone line only and if we use phone then it would be charged.

Its listed under both top up and combo plans! Now if i wanna switch to airtel, will i have to pay 999 + phone monthly rental or does it include that?P.S: Damn them, they are not present in my area as per their website! Anyway I'll call them up today!

pawanrh, you have got the trick.... basically there are two new plans for 256kbps unlimited - Home 999 (top-up) and Home 999 Plus (Combo).... the internet part of both is the same - same speed, same cost, unlimited etc.... the difference is that in the Plus plan you don't have to pay any rental for the telephone, though you still keep the phone. It's just that you get charged Re. 1 / pulse for any call you make... so if you make no calls, you will get 256 kbps unlimited for Rs. 1102 per month !!!!!!!!

I called up Airtel 4 times in the past couple of days, and all of the customer care people, except for the last, said that I had to take the phone, and if I wanted to downgrade, I would have to pay Rs. 399, and further on I would have to make a written request to change the plan..... thankfully, on my fourth try I seem to have got through to one of the very few competent people there, who not only told me about this combo plan (which is just f***in fantastic!!) but also put the request in their system without me having to write and courier them a letter (he did verify that I was the one who has the connection by asking for a few details)..... so within the next 5 days, I'm going 256 kbps unlimited !!!! :D :D :D

Bye bye Home 128... the ride sure was fun with you... but it's time for me to move on.

Note that airtel is available in my area though its not listed on their siteCheck for Airtel's banners which they keep putting up around ur area....or their boxes which in my case are blue in color or the smaller DP boxes which they put on back or front of every 1,2 or3 houses.....They have put a DP box at our back wall even i havent taken their connection yet

I'm about 5 minutes from saket and they have a connection in saket. A place called Freedom Fighter's and airtel can't stretch the extra kilometers. Oh man I really hope that they do.

Fantastic news !! I might changeover. But i will wait to hear from a former 128k unlimited user who has done so first. As far as i can tell there is no diff between that and the home 600 plan.

Hathway is perfectly fine! infact rarely any downtimes since i started posting here! (good luck i guess) BUT they dont give you a phone line! I pay separately for that! ALSO Airtel includes Modem rent in 999. Hathway doesn't! So Airtel is more reasonable! As simple as that!
And yes the slow uploads on my Hathway stay as they are, so I've found a better offer! I dont worship Hathway or anythin and just on a lookout for good offers! :)
(If I may ask, wats the upload on airtel?)(On BSNL also its 64, LOL! :D)
