Airtel Mobile edge speeds

I'm in Dharamsala H.P. and I'm lucky if I can connect never mind actually view any websites. I get connection refused/timeouts more often than I get to do any surfing. In fact it too about 10 minutes just to load this page so I could post. I'm sooo disappointed with the service and I'm not sure of the technical reasons why it should be worse here in the mountains than in one of the big metros.

I get good speeds here with EDGE and N95 8GB.during normal speed is 18-16kBps and after 1am i get 25-38kBps.

No it has 3G, but K790i has it.
K790i is just edge variant of K800i

I am planning to buy a mobile phone to be used as a modem for airtel gprs. The models are Nokia 2690 (class 10 GPRS), nokia 2700(class 32 GPRS) and Samsung s3310 (class 12)i would like to know that how much of a difference would the class make in each of the phones in an Edge and Non-edge area. Kindly help me which of these fones would be the best for use as a GPRS modem. Thanks in advance. please do reply.

Mostly both will be the same. Better go for wired broadband rather than using mobile internet in PC.

airtel edge was horrible today for me in the morning when i was out for some work.

i struggled to load tweets in my twitter account. google+ failed to work. even checking-in at places was impossible.
