Airtel Mobile edge speeds

Airtel Edge is horrible. The speeds are always terrible. You only get decent speeds at 3-6am in the morning.Can't even browse fb on mobile. Only worth it if you use 0.fb.com

EDGE has never been good. I had seen decent EDGE speeds in Lavasa and Mysore (10 months ago), watched 5 min video on Youtube with some buffering. But, it is very slow in Mumbai. I ran speedtest app on my phone, the results were: Ping - 743 ms, upload speed - 0.08 Mbps and download speed - 0 Mbps! However, I can check fb, twitter and other web based info using apps, though very slow.

The speeds seem to have reduced over the last few months, if I were the cynical type I would think that they are crippling EDGE speeds to drive users to 3G.

The speeds are of Dial-up connection. It comes to around 28-32 kbps

I've never seen 28 Kbps in Mumbai.

28 kbps= kilo bytes or kilo bits?Also is EDGE also referred to as 2G?If yes then 2G speeds in downloads mostly never exceed 10 to 20 kilo bytes average in my region.

My mistake, should have been kBps (bytes). The maximum I've experienced is 9.9 kBps. This is on EDGE, same as 2G.

9.9 kbps avg download or peak download?It varies at my place actually.Sometimes it exceeds 20 kbps(peak for a little while) and comes back to normal 10 to 20 and around 15 kbps.I get around 1 mb downloaded in a minute but this varies from site to site.

9.9 kBps is the maximum that I've seen in speedtest app. I've got 25 kBps in other cities.
