I wouldn't call the Indian consumer a loser per se - perhaps a loser at his own volition / ignorance, but more appropriately 'not the biggest winner.'

So expect to pay double for 512kbs

I should have added, maybe they are testing the market. If they can continue to make as much as before, when the phone was an option, then we will be stuck with the phone condition.

But if they don't..hehe..there was a time a while back when the same condition applied. They dropped it for a cpl of yrs. Why ?

well, if anybody has looked on thier other plans, viz 550 and 747 COMBO, these plans are just awesome... i jus got migrated to one of these... check urself....

Yea the above plans r great...but only if u can restrict urself to downloading upto 1 GB in a month.... ;)

Well, in Mumbai, I would be happy if they had a PLAN to actually offer BB services instead of merely claiming they do!It's been 1 month since I've contacted Airtel Cust service in person and left my details. They promised to call back, said they would 'surely offer' a connection in my area. Since then, there has only been silence....

Don't know if you guys know this, haven't seen it posted yet, but Airtel has come out with a 512 kbps unlimited plan for Rs. 1999/- per month. It's not listed on their site, but call up customer care and you can get the info. I've sent my request in to upgrade, will post here with details when I test it. Even at Rs. 1999/-, I think its worth it. :)I'm from Bangalore, by the way.

199 Router rent WTF!! Thats after you pay 1000 upfront (non refundable) THIS SUCKS!! One of my friend got airtel and he has taken 128 unlimited, He will have to pay around 820 for it, this really sucks..Airtel was known to take initiatives but it cant even follow others now.

sanke1, although I'd love to see that, I really don't think it will happen... Airtel doesn't normally have much of a reaction to change in MTNL / BSNL plans.
